yeah, i hear it's a thing, yokozuna's first tournament is usually bad.
my hope is that he'll get over 10 yusho in his career, so he'll be one of the good ones.
but he's just not a brute enough, like Hakuho or Teru, or even uncle who even though was shorter than him, he was twice as powerful and aggressive.
 
Any day Midorifuji wins is a good day.

Is he at a new stable or something? I don't know if it has any meaning, but I don't remember him wearing bright red before.

I don't know in his case. Some guys do give a meaning to their belt, remember the bright green-blue one that Kotozakura used to have? I think it's connected to improving performance, won't wear the green one until he feels he improved.

It's stupid, i read that subreddit as well and i can't believe what i'm seeing over there.
Kid already has as many yusho as fucking Kisenosato, and i believe he will for sure win more in the future, but people decide to go on the hate path. blows my mind.

You simply cannot replicate guys like Hakuho and Asashoryu. They were the pinnacle in ways it was truly a surprise when people put up a fight, nevermind win against them. how soon will we have a yokozuna win all basho in a year? or reach insane numbers like 84-86 wins?
we're in an era where Yokozuna will win 7-8, maybe 10-12 tournaments in their career. i'd be shocked if we will have a 25 plus yokozuna in my lifetime again. those are truly stratospheric numbers, and Asashoryu pulled it off with ozeki like Kaio, Chiyotaikai alongside.

people are neurotic these days. god forbid you'd wait a while for anything.

Would love to see him win though.
Right now it's either takerufuji or onosato.
