I have noticed the man you talk about, seems like every basho has a special person in the very visible spots. sometimes a geisha, sometimes a guy with distinctive dress, like this one.Onosato taking over the status terunofuji succeeded from hakuho was predictable. I'm a bigger fan of hoshoryu but it's plain to see who will reign over the division.
Okui, middle aged man in white suits wearing Al Capone hat seen seated at the same ringside spot will score the perfect attendance. I wonder how he reserves the best seat for 15 consecutive days. Definitely not just money. (He owns a big construction business in the region and occasionally sponsors and helps promoting boxing world championships. )
Fork is busy living life and has less time to do the threads, he pops in every once in a while. I decided to make this thread because, well, there wasn't one and i wanted to exchange views with sherbros even if there's very few of us here interested in this great sport. What happened to @Fork wasnt he the one always doing it? He used to @ me and stuff…
Anyway, tomorrow is going to rock, I hope takayasu finally gets it done but the other outcomes are fantastic as well, onosato winning is also great, that guy is an oncoming train with deceptive skill. I see him as a future yoko.
Or we get an insane free for all play off. Highly exited for tomorrow.
My favorite thing this basho is hoshoryu proving me right that the prmotion wasn’t deserved. I hate when they promote for the sake of promotion. When the business side wins, they didn’t want to be without a Yokozuna so they jumped the gun.
Is he Yokozuna material? For sure but when you promote someone early or as I like to say, “shodai them” you end up doing a disservice to the fighter. If hoshoryu starts sucking from now on we may have another kisemosato situation on our hands. Hope not.
Anyway those are my 2 cents this tourney.
Lost the playoff and cup to Onosato....Sent to his room with no dessert? What did he do?
