Oh well. I’ve worked during this whole pandemic while people I’ve known were being massively overpaid in unemployment throughout the summer and will begin to get paid more than they earn again shortly. I know this has financially crippled some, but to not be working since March for some is absurd. Work a job ,”beneath you,” if necessary to eat/survive. That being said, raising PPV prices when we aren’t supposed to gather, and can’t watch it at bars to alleviate costs is ridiculous.

If I were paying 70 for a ppv I want 4K HDR again like DirecTV had as I paid the 74.99 (90 something CAD with exchange rate) for quite a few events and it was really good quality but now I'm back to free streams on IPTV.

Can someone explain for the love of GOD, why they paywall the UFC. Why can't they just broadcast it on their channel like the Superbowl, World Series, ect?

Not enough viewers to make it worth it for advertisers. If an event is guaranteed to earn let’s say 9 million viewers, it can charge ads to more than make up the cost of producing/buying an event. If an event would draw less than 1 million viewers, ad companies will not pay enough to make a net profit. I’m also talking out of my ass but this seems right

I'm sure they've crunched the numbers, but this seems so stupid to me.

70 bucks American is too much to watch a sports event. Given covid restrictions on having people come to your house, you can't even split such a ridiculous cost with other people.

I guess it's just a mathematical formula. If they were to slash the cost of a ppv, a lot of us could afford to buy kt instead of streaming it and paying 0. But there must be a huge chunk of people who will always buy the paperviews no matter what. As I say, they must have crunched the numbers and they must figure to make way more money this way.

Maybe I'm wrong about lowered cost ppv bringing in legitimate buys. Maybe the majority of viewers wouldn't even pay 10 bucks, so they figure might as well milk all they can from those who refuse to watch illegal streams.

Is the crack website still down? Maybe this is all part of the plan. I couldn't believe how easy it's gotten to find a high quality stream - just googling would tske you to crack streams. But is it gone? Is there an alternative?

I believe they likely could lower the cost to $20-30 and raise the legitimate buys. Enough to overcome the deficit? Evidently they don’t think so.

However, one thing to consider is if you make the product more approachable and don’t scare off customers with high price tags, will they gain more viewers overall in the long run leading to higher tv viewership and potentially higher sales in the future? I think it’s quite possible. I know one thing for sure though, they’ve lost a reliable customer in myself with their greediness this time.
