The boogeyman at 147lbs seems to be Errol. In almost every interview I watch, people are hyping Spence as the next big thing, destined to take out Thurman and Danny Garcia.

He seems like an enormously talented, powerful and humble fighter based on all of his interviews/fights. Considering he rolls with the Charlo brothers and the Lions Only team, he is surprisingly subdued.

Do you think he is the real deal? I would still take Thurman over Spence (and possibly Crawford if he decides to fight at WW), but in a couple of years, I think Spence rules over the division.

He says he wants all the smoke...

i think he's definitely the best welterweight, and it's not even close as far as i'm concerned. he mows thurman down, finishes him late in the fight.

crawford could be interesting if he turns out to be as good at 147 as he was below, but in the end i think errol prevails. we'll see after crawford annihilates horn and then hopefully fights someone good, though.

I can't see many pieces of evidence pointing to his being overhyped.

If he isnt getting as much attention as other guys its because he isnt playing the 'villain' in the media or trying to smear himself all over social media for bullshit. Means he'll make less money in the long run but a more respectable fighter. Great talent

Best WW in the world.
Thurman and Garcia don't want it.

I think he's awesome. Slightly concerned about his willingness to take shots in order to give them, but is pretty great in that situation. Will be interesting to see if someone with Crawford's slick counterpunching can make him pay for it.

this is true, but he's already making more than a million per fight. i understand he could be making drastically more, but considering how he carries himself, i'd say he'll make more than enough throughout his career.

I think number 1 is that he's fighting a class below where he should be. And he uses that size and strength advantage.

He should be where he likes as long as he makes weight, which he always does.

He is a good tough fighter with power, but he wont be able to make 147 much longer and he will have to step to 154,

For me the way he took Brook apart was mighty impressive. Brook isn't some B-level bum and Errol handled him fairly comfortably. I was a fan after seeing that. I think this kid can do some great things. I look forward to the Crawford match up. Crawford is a great boxer but I think Spence natural size and strength will be too much for Bud.

He might have to prove it at 154 if Danny, Shawn and Keef continue in this human centipede manner.

Spence will stop Thurman and Swift.

He beats Thurmond and Garcia IMO - but when Crawford makes a jump in weight - I can't see him beating bud.. Crawford beats him but be a GREAT fight - thats my current dream fight - but is years from happening as thats how boxing works.

Dangerous fight for anyone at the moment. Top tier with heart and power but his style unless changed will be his undoing. His current style of taking one to give one which he has been hurt doing will cost him.

This. He belongs in the weight class he weighs in for, period.

And he’s not overhyped. Imo he’s the best WW at the moment, and will likely not have problems at 154. I think he’ll start getting into tough spots at 160, which he’ll likely get to by the end of his career.

I give Shawn a bit of a pass. He steps to the plate but sometimes comes up short. I don’t blame him for not jumping in with Spence. Thurman and Garcia though, both of those guys believe they’re the best and put their attitudes behind it - they need to step up, especially Keith. I’d forgive him for taking one more money bout before Spence though. Errol’s gonna tax that ass.

He kind of lived up to the hype when he stopped Brook in his own backyard, walked right through Algieri and Bundu, and holds a world title, with all that said he no longer should be considered a “boogey man” but the man at 147, I really do want to see him against either Garcia, Crawford or Thirman before he heads to 154

My only problem with Spence is that we don't get to see more of him!

Any chance that he could cross paths with Canelo some day?
