Yeah true. But on the other hand, his previous two fights were against the current champ (which was good enough to get Pantoja his title shot off the back of) and his own title shot from beating the likes of Formiga. Schnell has never won on Perez's level, and sandwiching wins over Tyson Nam and Sumudaerji in his last 7 isn't going to leave a lasting impression either.

Pantoja should be fighting SOMEONE. Just cuz the challengers are unappetizing doesn't mean he should be forced to sit.
Horiguchi would be fantastic, but it seems a little like a dream at this point.
Albazi is injured. Kape botched weight again and has been streaking over basically no one of note unfortunately, since the KKF fight didn't happen. So who then? Royval back to back? That fight wasn't that hard to score, and I don't think 1 win should put him back in there

Perez shouldn't have even been ranked if the UFC followed their own practices of removing inactive fighters from the rankings, but they don't follow that standard when it's convenient to them. Schnell also shouldn't be ranked in my opinion, but at least he's picked up some wins in recent years. I'm not going to argue either is better than the other, and I don't think you should either because they're both kind of....mid.
If you want to argue that mokaev's win carries more weight than erceg's, then okay, but I'm really not seeing it. Schnell and perez are both around the same level, and erceg smoked schnell, where as mokaev barely squeeked by a guy who has't won in nearly 4 years.
