Equitable and Fair Solution to the Jon Jones HW Debacle

Tom VS Gane. Stipe has nothing to do with having a title shot. He needs minimum one victory, and it should even be two minimum before a title shot, even at HW.

Unless the UFC strips Jones off the HW belt due to his injuries, the rest of the HW division will be on hold for a long time

Jones probably will not fight until late 2025 possibly early 2026, will need time to recover, time to get into fight shape and time to promote his next fight against Stipe

Situation is simple:
Jones is champ and injured for a while.
Aspinall is the rightful interim champion.

Aspinall should: defend his interim if Jones still has a long delay before returning.

Jones should: return to unify against the interim champion ( Aspinall or whoever takes the interim belt from him). Or vacate if he only wants Stipe as a non title fight. Or retire.

Stipe should: fight Aspinall for the interim if he wants to face Jones or wait his turn. Or retire.

1. Strip Jon Jones. He's going to be out easily 12+ months and then planning a non-unification bout with someone who hasn't fought in years and then retiring without actually defending the belt against the interim champ. Champs have been stripped for far less, Jon will understand, he's already been stripped twice. They can do it in a nice way like, 'Hey GOAT, we're just holding this for you until you're ready to come back.'

2. Aspinall fights the winner of Blaydes/Almeida for the undisputed championship.

3. If Jones and Stipe ever get their shit together and fight, the winner can challenge for the belt.

Everyone's happy, the division moves forward with relevant fights and Jones or Stipe can have their final retirement title fight if they want it, when they are ready.
I think the simpler solution to a:

Offer Jon vs Stipe for the “Legacy” or Goat belt in line with the BMF belt. If they both want to only fight each other.

Alternatively make Tom vs Stipe with the winner fighting Jones if and when he comes back.

If none of that works for Jon and or Stipe then FnCK them both and move on.

Jon Jones will fight and beat Stipe Miocic, then he will retire.

Aspinal will then promoted to the undisputed HW champ once Jones retires.

That is exactly what will happen, it doesn't matter how many threads or how much you people bitch.

So if Stipe loses to Jones then book him vs Tom/Curt for the undisputed belt with an option for Jones in the future? I like it.

What if Jon says, after beating Stipe, 'you know what? That was pretty easy, it kept me relevant on social media and UFC does whatever I say anyway, why should I retire? In fact, I'm NOT going to retire and I want Pereira or some other LHW/MW instead of a rightful HW contender'

Pereira would actually be realistic, Jones is a NIGHTMARE match up for Pereira and might be an easy win but if Pereira wins it would be the wildest moment in UFC history.

He should take that fight immediately after he drops the belt. Everyone wins

You're hired!

I got an even better idea. it took me awhile to come up with but here it goes..... ok
  1. let jones heal
  2. let jones fight stipe
  3. let jones retire .
  4. let toms next fight be for the real HW belt

yall see how easy that was. everybody wins YAY. OMG.

its called patience guys.
unless yall about to expire in the next few months or so you can wait.
its not that serious. tom is still young and has time.
nuff said.
Terrible idea. Typical from someone with “woke” as their name.

No I think we are not on the same page. IMO If The Interim champion steps in the cage to "Defend" then at the exact second the fight starts he is promoted to "Undisputed". Jon vs Stipe should be for a BMF style "Special Title" while Tom is promoted to the Undisputed Champion. If Stipe wants a title fight and not the Jones fight then book him vs Jon and if he wins he can fight Jon assuming he is actually coming back. That's the only way Jon vs Stipe should be considered for the Undisputed HW title.

If Jon wants to fight for the UFC HW title in his next fight it should be against Tom. Since he wants Stipe it should be for a "Special Belt". Having a belt holder defend against anyone but the Interim champion means the Belts are 100% meaningless.

lol, why can’t people accept that the UFC is gonna make Jones vs Stipe regardless of how bad fans want otherwise.

The fight is gonna happen and there’s a good chance we won’t see Jon fight Aspinal.

Just accept it
UFC 400: Jones vs Stipe (for super serious this time guys)

Stipe will be 50 by the time this happens and 100 in fight years and may need to be pushed to the octagon in a wheelchair while Rogan goes on and on about how Stipe is one of the best HWs ever. Then Jones gets injured after tripping on a wire walking to the octagon and they re-schedule for UFC 500

It makes too much sense, they'll never do it

Damn, this is a necro thread.

<mma1>

Meanwhile, Sherbronis another 6 months from now still waiting on Jones vs Stipe to happen while Tom breaks the record for most interim title defenses.
