That's what makes this so difficult. If someone truly went through all this, they deserve justice, but at the same time, if there's no evidence of it except one person's unvetted word, and they never brought it up until they made a single statement years later...what are you supposed to do?

EDIT: After reading the article, there are some fairly specific details called out that her mother, at least, should be able to confirm or deny. But again, if that denial is there, there's not much more that can be done. You can't just convict someone because one person accused them while everyone else disagrees.
