End of an era: Andrei Arlovski is no longer with UFC

Again, you're not wrong - but I really wish it was up to Arlovski to decide when he wanted to retire.

At least he deserved that much after his illustrious career. A tribute at least. WAY more deserving than Karate Hottie.

And like I said, it's not like he was getting beat up badly on live TV the way Tony Ferguson's been getting it
They wanted to give him one, but he flat out said he didnt want one, because he wasnt retiring.

It IS up to him. He's still going to fight. But I cannot blame the UFC for washing their hands of him. They gave him a way longer run than anyone could have hoped for. It had to end sometime.

Let him fight Jake Paul in Boxing!! ID WATCH!

the ufc should stop allowing these aging legends to take fights way beyond their competitiveness. guys like arlovski are going to have major cte issues and some people are going to look back at the last few fights they had where they weren't competitive and sustained tons of damage. it's not only bad for the fighters but it makes for bad fights.

Fair enough

How else can they do Arlovski a solid. No one wanna watch him fight another 40 yr old. Plus he already fought everyone he could fight.

Last fighter born in the 70s no longer in Ufc makes a few of us feel very old

i think they should do one of those ceremonies like they did for matt hughes. a five-minute video of his career highlights and maybe a small speech from andrei would be nice.

But he said he didn't want one.

He said he isn't retiring and didn't want one of those kind of things. He wanted to stay in the UFC and keep fighting, but his contract finished and UFC chose not to resign.

wow, end of an era indeed. that was the longest career slide in history.

I
He is not retiring. UFC wanted him to retire but he just fought out his contract and is fighting elsewhere.

He did not want to leave UFC, but UFC did not want to give him any more fights, since, really, the guy shouldnt be fighting anymore. I dont blame them. They wanted to give him the sendoff, but he doesnt want to stop and didnt want that.

Arlovski doesnt want to quit yet. If you want to hear the whole thing here you go

I see, that's unfortunate for him but I can understand where the UFC is coming from. His value has deprecated over time and he probably doesn't have a whole lot to work with for negotiations.

I looked it up and he's 45, and has fought 28 times since coming back to the UFC at the end of 2013! That's impressive for any age!

He really overstayed his welcome. It had gotten so bad that his presence on cards would actually piss me off.

Not sure why but this made me laugh. And I actually agree. Seeing an antient fucking Arlovski on UFC events the last ten years have tickled me.

He always has a place in smaller roles in movies as a villain/muscle post fighting.

I saw him getting worked over by Denzel in one of the Equalizer's.

Andrei has had a long and storied career.
Anyone that's been following MMA since the early 2000's remembers him as a vicious killer. Fast, athletic and serious KO power.
After his first UFC run and those Affliction bangers, he seemed to lose something....became a careful point fighter (not to mention old). The last ten years he's looked slow and doesn't resemble the guy who won the title eons ago.
It's a shame.... Today's crop of MMA fans will never understand or know the hairy Dracula version of Andrei.
