End of all GOAT discussions

SILVA vs FEDOR vs GSP vs JONES

Longest title defense reign vs quality opposition : GSP

Biggest selling PPV star : GSP

Only fighter to ever avenge all his loses : GSP

Longest streak without ever losing a round : GSP

Only fighter to win 2 belts in different weight classes : GSP

Only fighter to not test positive or get his ass kicked repeatedly ever since testing became the norm : GSP

How can anyone argue GSP is not the goat currently?

End of all goat discussions... F*cking liar. You're as full of shit as your boy.(GSP)

10 years undefeated: Fedor

Did not get KO'ed for 11 years: Fedor

Fought many bigger opponents: Fedor

Fought the most dangerous strikers: Fedor

Finished many top 10 opponents: Fedor

Able to win by several different methods: Fedor

From age 23 to 32 Fedor was undefeated World Champ on a 30 fight unbeaten streak.

GSP also began at 23 and retired at 32 years old after struggling in a controversiso decision over Hendricks. He had 2 or 3 losses at this point and only returned to fight the 38 year old Bisping.

As you can see GSP retired when he began declining while Fedor kept on fighting because he is a true warrior. We can't hold Fedor's losses against him because GSP never tested himself past the age of 32 either (save for old Bisping). They both had great 10 year runs. What do you value more? Someone who retires early and protects their legacy or someone who keeps on fighting and is not scared to risk it?

When Fedor was asked if he will fight again after his latest loss his reply was "Yes, because I am a fighter."

Id value the guy who fought more contenders and was smart enough to know when to call it quits.

Nobody wants to see legends continue fighting passed their primes n get beaten down.

And any fighter who loses to a guy 2 weight classes below his own cant be considered the goat.

Fedors A goat.

GSP is THE goat.

Get over it and move on.

You sound salty.

Mrs BJ you still upset your son got beat up n took you to court to help testify on his behalf ?

Fedor fought plenty of contenders. He also fought in Tournaments.

And funny how you make fun of Fedor losing by KO to TRT Hendo yet GSP tapped to strikes from lightweight Matt Serra. I am pretty sure TRT Hendo hits 100x harder than Serra.

That's actually being smart.

And why do you keep saying "old bisping". GSP was 36 so pretty much the same age as Bisping except GSP had been out for 4 years while Bisping was active.

Oh and Fedor fought cans.

GSP called Fedor the GOAT. That's the end of all GOAT discussions.

Longest title defense reign vs quality opposition : GSP
Quality opposition ? The quality of the opposition is up for debate, you can make cases for Jones, DC, Anderson and Fedor.

Mighty Mouse and Anderson Silva had more consecutive title defenses. Mighty Mouses' is ongoing, with a match up against TJ next he could start showcasing his p4p greatness against a great fighter and champion in the division above. (unlike Bisping who was a weak champion)

Fedor had the longest undefeated reign.

Jon Jones has never truly been beaten.

DC has only ever lost against a PED using Jon Jones. He has success in two divisions, he's fighting against the longest reigning UFC HW champion ever (3 consecutive defenses) in Stipe. Should he win his case will be getting stronger.

Biggest selling PPV star : GSP

That's got nothing to do with success inside the octagon or fighting skills.

Only fighter to ever avenge all his loses : GSP

That's a good point, but Jon Jones hasn't properly lost.

DC has only ever lost to a PED using Jones.

Longest streak without ever losing a round : GSP

Many would consider finishing streaks to be better. Jon Jones came to the UFC and finished 8 of his first 9 opponents. Including finishes over the likes of Shogun, Rampage, Machida, Vitor and Chael.

Anderson finished his first 8 UFC opponents.

Whens the last time Mighty Mouse lost a round ?

Only fighter to win 2 belts in different weight classes : GSP

DC won the SF HW Grand Prix and is the reigning UFC LHW champion, he's fighting for the UFC HW title next. Should he beat Stipe his two division exploits will shit all over GSPs.

Conor McGregor.

Andersons exploits at LHW were just as good as GSPs at MW. (seeing as GSP only fought and beat Michael Bisping)

Only fighter to not test positive or get his ass kicked repeatedly ever since testing became the norm : GSP

He came back for one fight during the USADA era. Had he came back, won the title, defended it against the likes of Yoel, Rockhold and co it would have been impressive, but alas, he left the UFC, came back to fight once (in a cherry picked fight) and is now gone again. His last fight before leaving was a controversial victory over Hendricks. Many feel he lost that fight.

Just because he hasn't tested positive doesn't mean he's totally clean. In fact, many will argue till the sun goes down that he has took PEDs in his career.

DC has only ever lost to a PED using GOAT candidate.

Mighty Mouse is reigning long and hard through this USADA era.

All in all GSP is one of the GOATs and you can argue him for #1. But to say he is undisputed #1 is a lie. Their is plenty of room for debate.

Hate to say I think but Gsp fought better competition than fedor.
bj penn is more well rounded than any fedor opponents
Prime Josh koscheck is way better than Coleman or randleman.
Jake shield is a better grappler than big nog or any fedor opponents.
Jon fitch, condit, pre usada alves > rest of fedor opponentd(other than cro cop)

This should be titled 'Why I'm a GSP Fan' This has nothing to do with GOAT.
I mean GSP is also the only person on that list to get his clock cleaned by someone who had no business on the same card as him muchness getting a title fight.
GSP is also the only one on the list to vacate his belt because he didn't want to face the next number one contender... and he has now done it twice.
They all have disqualifies and they all have reasons to put them on the list. The GOAT discussion is really just a fun concept and fact is there is no winner, there never will be. Its funny that nobody ever puts Shamrock on the GOAT list even though he was virtually unbeatable at one point.

Fedor got smashed when he faught real compitition.
GSP reigned when MMA was still new.
The goat and p4p king is Conor. If you disagree you are a racist.

That's actually being smart.

Oh and Fedor fought cans.
Because GSP retired at 32.

Fedor started losing at 33.

We should only compare them from 23 to 32.

Bisping was 38 and well past his prime. He barely skated by 46 year old TRT-less Hendo the year before.

I have GSP as #2 all time but Fedor is GOAT.

You can say GSP is smart for getting out early but that doesn't make Fedor dumb. He likes to test himself even while past his prime. GSP has only done that once versus old Bisping.

And the cans argument is ridiculous. Fedor was also fighting top contenders and beating everyone

Well argued.

Respect.

Well argued.

Respect.

Thank you kind sir.

I think for now GSP, Jones, Anderson, Mighty Mouse, Fedor and DC are all up for G.O.A.T

You can argue a decent case for any of them. Some cases are maybe a bit weaker than others, but these things can change so quickly. Hypothetically if DC beats Stipe and defends the HW title for one or two fights against say, Werdum, Overeem or Ngannou. He'll have a very strong case for G.O.A.T (his sole blemish would be the Jones' fights, but Jon is an undefeated G.O.A.T contender who tested positive around the times of said fights, in such a case some would be willing to remove that blemish from his record.).

Alternatively if GSP comes back in a year and fights for, and wins the WW title, he'll likely strengthen his case further. These things can change so quickly. It really is on a fight to fight basis.

Jones' only blemish is his PED usage, inside the cage he's been pretty flawless. Some people take a hard line approach to positive tests, completely erasing their exploits, others view it as a nothing untowards as many/most athletes take PEDs.

That's actually being smart.

Oh and Fedor fought cans.

They can’t all be killers like Hardy and Serra

This is going to be unpopular, but I think it goes:

Jones
Silva
DC
GSP
Fedor
Aldo.

Then really, winner of Stipe/ DC should be in the conversation for a top 2 spot, and if it happens, winner of Dillashaw vs MM is somewhere towards the bottom of that list.

* Went back and swapped Silva / Jones 1 & 2

Another goat thread..There will be another 30 of them on here before the day is over. These goat threads are getting annoying.
