Prochazka took on Khalil Rountree at UFC 320 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday. After dropping the first two rounds, “BJP” staged a miraculous comeback to knock Rountree out in the third. Prochazka was present cageside when Alex Pereira looked to regain his light heavyweight title against Magomed Ankalaev in the main event. Pereira walked Ankalaev down from the opening bell, dropped him and landed vicious ground-and-pound, forcing referee Herb Dean to step in at 1:20 of the first round.
Prochazka was seen tearing up while celebrating Pereira’s win, although “Poatan” is the only man to have knocked him out in the UFC. Prochazka subsequently revealed that he was rooting for Pereira due to his animosity towards Ankalaev. The Czech didn’t like Ankalaev’s trash talk in recent months when there were talks of a possible fight between the two. Prochazka further said that he and his team recently had a conversation with Pereira’s long-term coach and mentor, Glover Teixeira, and things are very friendly between the two groups. Prochazka has been stopped twice in failed title bids against Pereira. However, Prochazka remains hopeful about a trilogy fight, where he aims to “win or die.”
Prochazka: Everybody Knows I Don’t Like Ankalaev
While Prochazka is waiting in contention, Carlos Ulberg, who established himself as a contender by knocking out Dominick Reyes last weekend, was also in attendance at UFC 320.
“Ankalaev pissed me [off] a lot on Twitter. So everybody knows I don’t like him,” Prochazka said on ESPN. “Because he just wrote some bulls—t about me. But I’m really happy that Alex won. Maybe you don’t believe me, but I believe I will find a way for Alex. As you saw the fight, there was a pressure from Alex. And in my last fight with Khalil, I really understand I need the pressure.
