Elvis is ridiculously overrated

I think he's as advertised. He took black rock music and made it mainstream. There would be no one at the time to do that but a very handsome, talented white man. Without him, we wouldn't have The Beatles. It was meant to be.

Is he overrated musically? Like is he great musician? I think the common consensus is that he isn't. But yes a great performer, and a very good singer nonetheless.

He influenced so many musical greats ie. Buddy Holly, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones....

Nothing was going on (barely any TVs) and somebody had to be first.

He grew up listening to the Memphis blues and country . He combined them with tbe Memphis blues style of singing - moving your body to the beat as you sing . Too bad he was shackled to "the colonel " an it prevented him from touring globally and basically ally improsioned him in Vegas his 2nd prime.

This is the biggest artist of all time, pound for pound? Explain to me why this person is worthy of cult worshipping.

If he had a face like Gerard Depardue, would he still sell all those albums? and it's not like he's some greek god in the face anyway.

He had an opera level voice. He could have done opera.
It sounds hip to say he took black music
No. It was Scotch Irish and Irish music the slaves picked up. Then the hill bllies started coming down from appalachia with the their new instruments and it was bled in .

My favorite bullshit is rock and rock was invented by someone with an electric guitar a decade plus after the electric guitar was invented and people were already jamming on it.
You want to hear African music come down to the Caribbean. It's stump thumping. Rap also comes from rhyme slang songs

Last why do you think blacks have alot of scotch Irish names like tyrone.

You think his voice was unique? Nobody could sing that way?

I think the fact there was only like 3 TV stations and 4 radio channels really helped drive sales back then.

For basically most artists.
