I don't know as far as your first comment. But ultimately it's useless as trumps time is temporary and even congress may change in a couple of years. Plus Trump's cabinet can put a stop to any departmental investigation if that's the goal.

The conflict of interest is there simply because he has govt contracts but if he touched those or blocked competition it wouldn't remain hidden forever and congress will eventually come for him. There is no need to risk all of that. Whatever he did will be scrutinized especially if there is a congressional shift. Ultimately anything that he can get done to help himself is better off being done with a hands-off approach having someone else do the dirty work.

Well, it's also true that nearly everything Trump touches he destroys. I predicted his relationship with Trump would cost him dearly and it's looking like I might have been right.

And frankly, with how despicable of a person Trump is, I wouldn't be surprised if in the back of his head he didn't have that goal in mind all along.

Musk has been a shield taking all the heat for this terrible dishonest destruction that doge has done and that's definitely part of the plan for Trump. He's been using musk as a shield all along like he uses all people.

I've sat back and been amazed at the heat Musk has taken when it's really all Trump's fault and Trump just has a way of manipulating public perception like that and it's all planned out from the very start because he's been doing it his whole life. Even the whole way Trump sat down at the desk and let musk stand up and gave people the perception that musk was in charge. That's all so musk takes the heat for the ugly things that happen.

When I saw the headline that Elon was going to spend more time on company work in May, it had me thinking that is what he mentioned in the past. It wasn't new news to me at least. I thought he had mentioned in the past that he was not going to be as active with DOGE come May. Makes sense. He is a busy guy. He has a lot of business interests going on.

Tesla boss Elon Musk has pledged to "significantly" cut back his role in the US government after the electric car firm reported a huge drop in profit and sales for the start of this year.

Musk has led the newly created advisory body - the Department for Government Efficiency (Doge) - since last year, putting the world's richest man at the heart of cutting US spending and jobs.

But Musk said his "time allocation to Doge" would "drop significantly" from next month, adding he would spend only one to two days per week on it after accusations he has taken his focus off Tesla

You can listen to the earnings call yourself, he’s done setting up the DOGE infrastructure and plans to drop because of that reason and plans on working there one out two days a week. Drop in earnings was due to primarily cutover.

I’m still baffled at what he wanted to accomplish with this? He was already the richest person in the world with the most government funding. What could he possibly leverage with this?

He’s said it a million times and said it again on the earnings call and the reasons he’s stepping away in May.

America needs to reduce the deficit and the waste and fraud is bankrupting the country.

Trump, Elon, the cabinet, and all the supporters thought that after the election that they had "won" and it was game over. I guess they thought their opponents would simply disappear and America would only be left with conservative supporters and all the liberal ideas would go away. That was my understanding of it. I've heard his classification (special government employee) isn't suppose to work more than 130 days in a calendar year which lines up with the rumors in February that he would be focused primarily on it for 4 months.
