That's the thing man. Without norms and integrity, we can't govern with laws. You simply cannot make enough rules to keep people in order and that's why Trump is so damaging to our nation because he has lowered the standards and moral fabric that would follow norms. He's changed everything but for the worse.

But also Elon directly tricking people into thinking they're dealing with the Kamala Harris campaign is illegal.

In fairness to Elon the campaign materials read "paid for by Progress 2028" which is a PAC that he runs so its not technically a false claim despite being deliberately crafted to be misleading. It does seem like an edge case and I wouldn't be surprised if Elon gets in trouble for it but he might have a defense based on that one technicality.

Yes, I caught that but that is still probably illegal because it's clear that he was trying to give the impression that it was the Kamala Harris campaign. So I'm thinking that it's still going to end up being illegal.

Blanketing voters with "misleading" information about the opposing candidate is a tale as old as time. You don't appear to be upset that Kamala's official campaign twitter has been misleading Americans about recent Trump campaign event snafus to suggest that he has been having episodes of senility. That isn't a mistake. They intended that.

The most insidious aspect of this was the way they disseminated the information as if it was coming from Harris herself.

Oh yeah but the difference here is that Elon was larping as someone that he was not to spread misinformation.

They would literally Target Jewish people and make it look like the Harris campaign was in support of the Palestinians.

And they would literally Target Palestinians and make it seem like the Harris campaign is supporting the Jews.

The point is that they misrepresented kamalas positions to disenfranchise specific voter groups.

Also the question is not what would her supporters support... The question is what are her positions and are they stated accurately in the fake ads that pretend to be Kamala Harris herself?

It's targeted advertising.
The positions are aimed at those identified as opposing them.
For instance statements about the support of Israel sent to Arabs and statements about the support of Palestine sent to Jews.
Messaging (presumably African American smokers) saying Kamala plans to ban menthol cigarettes, shooters saying she's planning a mandatory gun buyback etc etc.
"Progress 2028" is a transparent wink at Project 2025 from The Heritage Foundation.
