Imho it is insane idea in both these:
1. You need a degree. It is bullshit. Degree needs HR. Company will require tasks to be done.
2. You might change qualification if will attend some 3-4 months bootcamp, despite before this never had programmed anything....

# in most common cases there will be 2 variants: you will get easy tasks and will not be job ready.
Or... you will feel that it is hell...

While during longer timeframe than this....you might learn to code.
And programmer isn't a coder...
Programmer, even trainee does know more than just " to learn one language ".

The same Python is touted as easy language.
Syntax is easy but money programmer is earning is for stuff that he might solve problems and do task....
Syntax is lesser than 5% of programming....

Ofc without degree stuff might be self taught etc if some does have mentor etc...

No I don't but I also have no idea why he's doing this. You've simply come to the conclusion that it's politically motivated without having any proof and now your running with it. Twitter cost him a lot of money. If he's found that most of the employees aren't needed then it would only make sense to get rid of them to save some money.

Elon says he wants to use Twitter as a springboard for his 'everything app X'. That can go either one of two ways: morphing Twitter and adding functionalities to it until it becomes X app, or deliberately sabotaging it to make people migrate to what you want them to use. The latter is what happened with Myspace. Myspace used to be the #1 social media website until Rupert Murdoch bought it, and this was around the same time as Facebook launched. Following the acquisition, Myspace started having tons of technical problems and outages, and became borderline unusable. At the same time, Facebook was being marketed heavily as a platform that did everything MS did and all the Myspace users eventually transferred to it since MS wasn't working anymore. Of course now Facebook is known as a Big Brother-ish spying apparatus, and you can see why they wanted to transfer users to that architecture - that was the plan all along. When I hear 75% employees cut, I'm thinking we're heading towards the sabotage direction, but we'll see.
