Elizabeth Warren Releases DNA Test Showing "Strong Evidence" of Native American Ancestry

Dude. For real? She got a f**king DNA test done, then made a political ad out of the results thinking they vindicated her. But yeah, Right Wingers are shameless Race Baiters and stuff....

Yeah, she got the test done because Trump is constantly ridiculing her for it.

You can say it was a gaffe and she shouldn't have addressed him if you want, but you can't deny that the reason for her doing this was to try to prove Trump wrong. And of course right wingers are shameless race baiters because they're now pretending to care about things like racial/ethnic identity, minority representation in institutions of power, racial legitimacy, etc.

In every other instance it's "Let's move beyond race!" "Why is race always brought up??" "Who cares about race??" But suddenly, they're very concerned.

The only criticism of this that's valid is the one coming from the other side. And it's been very mild.

I guess this is it, isn't it? Let's be honest here, she got destroyed and will not recover from this stupidity.

It will be probably Trump vs Biden.
Two fucking white males on the top of the world once again. It will be hilarious.. .

New York Times: The Elizabeth Warren Fiasco

Warren should not have taken the test; having taken it, she should not have publicized it; having publicized it, she should quietly fire anyone who urged this gambit and move on. And liberals generally should regard this whole thing as a cautionary tale. There is an obvious appetite on the activist left for a candidate or candidates willing to take on Trump on his own brawler’s terms.

But if you come at him that way, you best not miss — as Michael Avenatti, the would-be Trump of the Resistance, has been missing repeatedly of late, with a Kavanaugh intervention that helped get the judge confirmed and a libel lawsuit that just got his own client ordered to pay Trump’s legal fees.

Now Warren has joined Avenatti in that loser’s gallery, for absolutely no good reason that I can see. Her self-own isn’t the biggest deal in the world, and her partisans are right that if mostly conservatives are agitated by the fiasco then it might not hurt her much. But a “front-runner” who’s polling at 8 percent needs to be showing reasons other candidates should be pre-emptively intimidated, and why the party should decide on her.

And the fact that we’re talking, for no good reason, about a fragment of Elizabeth Warren’s DNA three weeks before an essential midterm is a sign that she shouldn’t exactly terrify her rivals yet.

I think we have different definitions of "race baiting."

Mine is something like "the use of racial fears and prejudices for political gain." So bringing race-based police brutality, or racial inequality isn't race baiting. Constantly bringing up racial legitimacy (as if you gave a shit about that) to downgrade your opponent, is race-baiting.

Generally, I’d agree with you, but I don’t distinguish between raising ‘legitimate’ and ‘illegitimate’ racial fears. Demonizing somebody as a white oppressor is race baiting in my book, just as demonizing somebody as a black criminal is.

Of course there are contexts where it is perfectly appropriate to discuss racial disparities. The baiting part comes from constantly interjecting it into every situation as a cynical ploy to discredit your opponents ... constantly invoking fear of black criminals or white supremacists, so as to manipulate the audience’s base reactions.

Why can't we have a conversation? Do you act like this in real life?

Sorry the truth hurts your feelings snowflake.

This is what you voted for. You embraced this and promoted it, but then you whine when the shoe is on the other foot.

This is a disingenuous attack by Trump against Senator Warren. Not only did his family engage in the exact some thing you all accuse Senator Warren of, he did it on purpose. She at least believed it to be true. Trump and his father knew they weren't Swedish but pretended to be for decades for the sake of the family business.

Instead of just admitting that Trump's attacks are disingenuous, you play along with them.

This is me having a conversation with you, you just don't like the truth.

Ok...so you don't want to have a conversation.

You may be right, but it'll take a lot of party discipline. It is among likely Dem voters that theories about white privilege and cultural appropriation abound. And that is what this scandal is about, massive hypocrisy according to the left's understanding of race. A woman raised with all the privilege of being white appropriating the identity of an oppressed minority for short term gain, while making no commitment whatsoever to that community. Warren's actions pose a major challenge to the racial ideology of the campus left.

I don't think right wingers care much about that stuff. But college feminists do.

Right wingers have three motives for bringing this up that I can see. One is that it is funny as hell. Second is that when you're called a racist incessantly by people of Warren's ilk, payback is a bitch. Third is that this can either be used to damage Warren, or if that is unsuccessful it might be a useful wedge issue to drive certain minority groups away from the Dems. I think the first one is by the far the biggest at present but the third is what prompted Warren to make what seems to be a colossal blunder.

What short or long-term gain did she acquire from this? It's been proven that all the accolades and prestige she gained were strictly for her teaching and knowledge. Harvard and Penn did gain something because they got to count her as a minority. So at the very most, she helped two of her institutions inaccurately seem slightly more diverse than they actually were.

And lol at right wingers not caring about that stuff. Just look at this thread, or any other forum where this is being discussed. It's chock full of right wingers either gloating about it or dismissing Warren because of it. The few responses from the "college feminists" crowd are of caution and see it as a minor gaffe. Far, far, far from disqualifying.

I think the legitimate vs illegitimate difference is pretty much everything. Power shouldn't be ignored and fear of an underserved minority group is quite different from fear of the group in power.

Maybe something like "racial pandering" can be used for those that bring up racial inequality in what's deemed as a non-genuine way.

Elizabeth Warren might have actually made things worse with her DNA gambit

When CNN is noping out of this, you know you have miscalculated bigly.

How left-leaning media react to this fiasco

Celebrating that they won! (Look at Late Night Show or the View)

Then,

Making excuses after the Cherokee Nation criticized her tactics (CNN)

And finally,

Trying to move past this fiasco by deflecting it to Trump or letting Native people wrote a piece for them to make them not look biased (all left-wing media this morning)

https://www.vox.com/first-person/2018/10/17/17985886/elizabeth-warren-claims-native-american-descent

Cherokee Nation citizens like me are used to people claiming our heritage. It’s exhausting.

Rip her 2020 run IMO, Sanders and Biden will be popping red panties for this.

Based on the comments online, I think that many liberals will still vote for her, but I think it would be suicidal to send her against Trump.

How do you feel about the Trump family intentionally lying about their heritage to benefit their business for decades though?

Should that RIP his Presidency?

Why are you acting like both sides don’t do the exact same thing? Are Republican politicians asses? Yes. Yes, they are. Are democrat politicians garbage. Of course. Both sides spin literally everything. Both sides are shockingly hypocritical. Both sides will lie to constituents to get elected. And people who engage in dogmatic political discussions are really no better. Facebook is an absolute cesspool of political shouting matches. The whole thing is just very frustrating.

Yo @ichibang

Just call him a snowflake, avoid his question and then accept an imaginary concession.

There's definitive proof that she didn't claim to be NA to get ahead or get any scholarships, and you think this will derail her presidential campaign?

This is a disingenuous attack by Trump against Senator Warren. Not only did his family engage in the exact some thing you all accuse Senator Warren of, he did it on purpose. She at least believed it to be true.

I actually agree with this.. The President should be above making fun of someone who's obviously been disingenuous about her ancestry for decades. But Trump has shown himself to be shallow about these things. I tend to be conservative, but I'm not a fan of his behavior on such things... and quite a few other things as well.

However, whether she knew if it was true or not, she used the Native American Status for her own personal gain. At the minimum, she should have at least been required to provide information on a relative, either dead or alive, to prove she meet the criteria. Instead, she made the claim that because of her, there was a Native American on the Senior Facility Staff. She doesn't even come close to looking like she has any Indian blood. At least Rachel Dolazel tried to look the part of the culture she was appropriating.

God, I hate that term.

I'm not sure why you keep defending her. Even the tribes she claims she was part are denouncing her claims. All the typical left media sites are piling on her right now.

She would have been better served to continue to ignore President Trump's jabs at her claims of Indian Ancestry, but now she's made it a thousand times worse.

As has been shown, she dun goofed. She actually looks worse now than before.
But don't worry, Picohontas, because

Good job completely misunderstanding everything I said.

No one has been able to show me how she actually benefited from claiming that ancestry one time.
