Elections Elizabeth Warren likely is running for President

In what way was I white knighting Trump? All I’m doing is pointing out that the Pocahontas thing will haunt her for a long time

If the Ugandan nightmare is the nominee you might as well just give Trump the presidency again. Seriously I could see she guevara with a competent VP and a huge amounts of money thrown behind her make a run in 2024. Other than that...maybe Beto but that’s just Obama light even down to the way he speaks
Not Trump, the poster who I originally replied to

I hope she does run it wil provide lol’s

I'm not sure how much of an impact it will have. I think the biggest issue about the whole thing was her pretending like she was right after she got the test back. Just made her look really really dumb.

She wasn't pretending. She was 100% vindicated. She had said she had a distant NA ancestor and mentioned family stories about it. She was accused of making it up. She took a test, and it showed that what she said she heard was true. I wouldn't blame her for political opposition moving the goalposts after she was proved right.

Crocodile tears from the right and fake concern for Black peoples' sentiments. The rightwing only likes Blacks who are don't protest White hegemony. Any Black person perceived as being critical of White Nationalism is immediately hated by the rightwing.

Just noticed this post...

I know we talk in generalizations and paint with a broad brush, but do you believe that conservatives/right wing are racist white nationalist?

Uhhh...yeah.

Remember the 2016 Primary when Bernie Sanders said "I'm tired of hearing about your damn emails," when Sanders never touched on the Benghazi hoax, and when Hillary never went after him for that rape satire he wrote in the 1970s?

No, the Democratic field won't make this a central issue. They will stick to policy. Only in the GOP field is this type of frivolous squabbling the expected main event.

Central issue are the key words in that statement. No; they wont do it on stage, but surrogates will be sure to bring it up before and after the debates.

Remember how Lewis said he never saw/met Bernie during civil rights stuff, but he'd met Bill and Hillary? I member.....

Her DNA test was a bad political move. That being said it isn’t as bad as grab her by the pussy, running fraudulent university, running a scam charity and having almost everyone associated with running your campaign in jail.

She is tainted meat, they literally sell T-shirt’s with this on it.

2020 will bring the LULS, guaranteed.

Nope.
But most of the anti Black and Anti Mexican/Native racists gravitate towards the right.
Dem voters would undoubtedly have its own racists, but I would say they are more likely to be Hispanics and other recent immigrants, and not gentile Whites.

The claim that she actually made was proved correct. And the 1,024 thing is just a bad reading of the results. Good explanation here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...ren-dna-test-is-wrong/?utm_term=.3706abd1b01f

So it technically may not be 1/1024, but still significantly small? 1/1024 just has a nice ring to it

“Note: Bustamante did not have access to Native American DNA because of mistrust in the community that DNA results could affect tribal identity, so he relied on samples of indigenous people from Mexico, Peru and Colombia — populations in the Americas with high native American genetic ancestry. There is research showing that using these groups as references is accurate when differentiating between genetic ancestries at a worldwide level. But no tribe for Warren could be identified, only that she had an ancestor or ancestors descended from indigenous people.”

This was the part that took me for a loop when I first read about it and I’m glad the article pointed that out cause I was going to call you out on this. Despite all the technicalities that you may find, it’s simply a logical conclusion that her “claim” is false. What type of argument is “oh I said I had a super small pictogram like drop of Indian in me, so I didn’t lie” does the Indian gene pulsate in her? Cmon man....

"My claim of having indigenous American ancestry was due to family lore and wasn't ment to be disrespectful. Now, let's move on to more important matters."

Easy as that, and I believe most people would let the whole thing go.

Same goes for flimsey #MeToo baloney, and unfounded accusations of various "isms". Acknowlede the bruhaha, clear the air and make it obvious that you won't be strong armed into a needless apoloy. I wish these public figures would grow a spine.

Putting aside any exaggeration or charged figurative language, the fact is that the finding of the test is consistent with what she had said she'd heard (and note that she was accused of fabricating that she heard what she said she heard). The test results strongly suggest that she had been truthful.

The discussion has evolved from accusations that she was lying when she claimed she heard that she had a distant NA ancestor to claims that she was wrong to claim any significance to that distant ancestry or that she handled the PR poorly precisely because she was vindicated on her initial claim. To that second point I'd say that the fact that her political opponents are more unscrupulous than she realized discredits not her but them.

Is that exaggerated and charged rhetoric helping you understand how much of a cop out it is to say “oh I only heard that”...put out a gotcha video demanding 1 million dollars....fall flat on your face and then end back at “oh I only just heard I was a little NA, so I’m technically correct”

What she heard or didn’t hear can’t be proved. The PR nightmare was of her own doing, same as the very fake looking I’m going to drink a beer video she just put out. We have different meanings of vindication it seems

Like I told the other posters, this isn’t a Trump thread or her political opponents thread, just because they have their short comings doesn’t mean her situation wasn’t a clusterfuck

I think you're implying something false by modifying "correct." She was simply vindicated. I don't think she anticipated the goalpost moving, and I don't blame her for thinking that her opponents were better people than they turned out to be. YMMV.

Are you really going to hit me with the grammar police thing?

Anyways no one moved goal posts man, can you blame her opponents for ridiculing her for that laughable video she put out alongside the results? (As if the results alone weren’t enough)

Unfortunately it is worse than those things because she will be held to a far higher standard than Trump, pretty much everyone is at this point. I can easily see right wing media endlessly scrutinizing that whole meaningless affair despite all the far more damning skeletons in Trump's closet.

A lie requires that you intentionally misrepresent the truth, do you have evidence she did this? Do you know that she did not believe herself to be part Native American? Because that is a separate claim from whether or not she is Native American and if so by how much. She said that her parents told her that she had Native ancestry and she believed them, is that really a wild claim? Do you not believe that?

Evidence? I mean I don’t know how many times I have to repeat the same thing

I don’t know what her parents told her. I’m saying it’s a convienient cop out that even I would use in her position
