Who would you favor in a pure stand up match between some elite mma strikers vs an elite thai.

Full thai rules, 4oz gloves

Yodsanklai Fairtex vs Mcgregor, Barboza, Ferguson, Pettis?

Sam A, Rodtang vs DJ, Dillishaw, Garbrandt, Cruz

Yod and Sam-A beat all the MMA guys using only a left kick.

Pettis and Ferguson would both get killed in muay thai with small gloves.

Barboza may do alright against middling muay thai fighters.

I would of course favor the guys that participate in that sport as their full time job.

I feel the same,do you think the power or movement from some guys like Conor, Garbrandt, or Dillishaw could create problems though?

Depends on the style. High guard and plodding power kick boxers struggle. Fluid kickboxers that use movement win.

Muay thai fighters would have trouble with good mma boxers.

Of those I think DIllashaw would have the best chance, don't think any of the LW's are truly top level MMA striking.

Mods treat this subforum as some kind of trash can.

we dont bother anyone, just discuss MT and KB, we dont deserve to receive these gifts...

You are kidding right? It would be a total embarrassment for the MMA guys. How will a top decathlon athletes do in any of their disciplines do against the top athletes who only compete in their disciplines?

People think cowboy cerrone is what muay thai is so they think muay thai isnt a good striking art

kickboxing and muay thai is very overrated theres no money in it and the talent is low. Look at Schilling vs Kato. Schilling is an elite level kickboxer got ko'd by a c level mma fighter in mma and kickboxing.

These days lots of mma fans don't respect the skills of Thai fighters and kickboxers. MMA fans seem to respect boxing skills and mma strikers more

Kickboxing in larger weightclasses are not very competitive, and Schilling was always overrated. In lighter weightclasses, the quality of skill and talent is very high though, all you have to do is watch an elite thai at 154 and below, and it should be pretty evident to you that you're dealing with a different level of skill than sloppy ass Joe Schilling who chainsmokes and didn't start training Muay Thai until he was an adult

Joe Schilling is literally Chris Camozzi or Artem Lobov level in kickboxing. He's nowhere close to elite.

Schilling is nowhere near an elite level kickboxer.

The mma guys would have a punchers chance
