Elevation Training Masks - Your Thoughts?

Almost read that as 'hyperbolic chamber'

Pffft. No one questions the effectiveness of hyperbolic time chamber training.

Or a hyperbole chamber. Where you just tell people your strength and conditioning is much better than it actually is.

why do you think so many athletes, specifically UFC fighters use them?...whenever you watch a workout or research into there training they are all wearing them... are all of these professional s and c coaches that the fighters employ wrong?

not a sarcastic response, a genuine enquiry

Product placement? Same reason they wear sponsor logos in the cage.

You do realize that those folks put up training sessions specifically meant to be shown to the public, yes?

In other words, they are publicity stunts. Their real, actual, training may not be reflected in said publicity stunts.

I would say

1) MMA is a young sport, S&C isn't that established, so still lots of snake oil
2) A lot of fighters are partly managing their own training, and they are not S&C pros- we see pics of MMA fighters wearing these, not NFL or NBA athletes.
3) Some may be doing it for lulz, some variety, or even just to mislead people - cf Martin Rooney's quote about having his athlete swimming in water dodging flaming arrows when people with cameras come.

Product placement? Same reason they wear sponsor logos in the cage.

Also, many athletes and trainers don't understand how the body works. To a lot of people out there, harder = better. Not everyone bases their training on actual science and research.

EDIT- Jaunty beat me to it, fabulous bastard that he is.

I train at an American Top Team affiliate and I can tell you Jaunty's and Kiwi's answers are the correct ones. I've asked the couple guys that were using them, why? They had no good answer, mostly it was "I saw "insert fighter" use one" or "they were using it on a video I saw" after I talked to them about it from my own experience and pointed them to some research every one of them has stopped using them. None of them have had a drop in cardio or recovery because of it.

Basically it's like the old saying if you repeat a lie enough times, people will take it as fact. Or more simply think of it like a pyramid scheme for gimmicky training.

Unless your name is Bane you are a jack ass for wearing that.
