That video is awesome. The elephant seal breathing sound's like when you motor boat some big tits.

seal doesnt have much weapons. bear has better teeth and crazy long sharp claws

Do you realize that Polar Bears eat those things for supper?

Seal just let's Grizzly mail it for hours never even getting past all the blubber layers ...... Grizzly gets tired..... the 8000 lb seal lays on top ofc ear crushing it.

Unfair battle putting the Seal on land where it is already in a fight just moving its body weight around.

Make it knee depth water where the seal has some buoyancy and the beer still has good movement to make it more fair.

Bear would almost certainly avoid this fight. Seek easier prey. But assuming they must fight the bear will try to attack from behind, get on Seals back and go for bite around the back of neck area.

I doubt the bear can do any meaningful damage unless given so much time. It might look gory as he manages to tear chunks of blubber off, but that does no critical damage to the seal. And if the seal manages to buck the bear off once or knock him over in a flail and then drop his weight on him, the bear is done.

Saw some of those bad boys fighting on the beach north of Cambria in July. Very impressive and those chortles they make are unsettling. Cool animals.

I might take a huge grizzly in a fight on land though. Probably would end in a stalemate somehow. It would take forever for a grizzly to kill one of those goliaths.

The only animals that prey on adult elephant seals are orcas and great whites. The northern elephant seal shares its range with Kodiak bears but are left alone. A polar bear wouldn't attempt to hunt an elephant seal unless they miraculously happen upon a lone juvenile.

There's no way for a grizzly to hurt it. They do this all day just to get laid-

Likewise, I don't think the seal could kill a bear.

"
Polar bears feed on Walrus which are even larger than Elephant seals. Large Grizzly could take one out no problem.
<{katwhu}>
Big ES can weight twice big walrus

-copypaste shit from wiki-

WALRUS
"While some outsized Pacific males can weigh as much as 2,000 kg (4,400 lb), most weigh between 800 and 1,700 kg (1,800 and 3,700 lb)."
"the total body mass of these two giants is estimated to have been at least 2,300 kg (5,000 lb)."

ELEPHANT SEAL
" whereas bulls can range from 2,200 to 4,000 kg (4,900 to 8,800 lbs"
"The record-sized bull, measured 6.85 m (22.5 ft) long and was estimated to weigh a hulking 5,000 kg (11,000 lb)"

To give an idea, elephant seal is heavier than the biggest specie of rhino, it's essentially the heaviest land mammal behind only actual elephants lol

Also polar bears avoid big male walrus, only killer whales prey on adult bulls

The seal has a huge size and power advantage. However it had a huge manuevering disadvantage.

If it hits the bear it'll do some damage, but the question is whether or not the bear can evade the attacks.

I believe polar bears are in the artic north while elephant seals are in the artic south

Closest example would be a polar bear and a walrus, but an elephant seal probably has a few thousand pounds even on the walrus.

so you figure an animal built for water and with no history of being a skilled predator on land or experience fighting with anything other than others of its own species, would "smash" the largest land predator, who has all those things.

like most animal face offs, the combatants would find the juice not worth the squeeze and go their separate ways. because that's what animals do. unless good pussy is involved.

animals are not out there competing for higher status among the stupid little half monkeys that are observing them.

Well put. Animals talk a good game, but unless food or pussy is involved, they just can't be bothered.

A grizzly and an elephant seal would probably coexist quite nicely in close proximity unless the grizzly was starving to death. In that limited situation I would go with the grizzly on land and the seal in the water. On land, big fast things with arms, legs and claws I think win most fights against really big slow things with flippers.

Realistically though, an elephant seal would never get far enough away from the water that a grizzly, or even a group of them could stop it from returning to the water.

No they don't polar bears can't do anything to grown walruses even(which are 3000 pounds lighter than a large southern elephant seal) they can't bite through the thick hide and 5 inches of blubber. The seal is slow but he has huge jaws and its virtually invincible in this fight.

This one time I ko'd an elephant seal in the Everglades. Read it and weep
