Yeah that's little black bear. A grizzly would probably run from a charging bison too though. Taking that hit is going to cause some damage, just isn't worth it for the bear.

Buffalo vs bear

Few animals will fuck with a buffalo. It takes an entire pride of lions to bring one down.

and they still routinely get killed trying. The only land predator taking down prey of this size SOLO are tigers.

Though P4P has to go to the weasel. They take down prey 6x their weight.

I think the bear is too maneuverable for the seal. It clinches while the seal is rising up or straight up takes the back immediately. Either way the seal doesn't have much of an answer. It's like comparing a sumo wrestler to Cain Velasquez. The sumo wrestler may have a lot more weight and explosiveness but his skillset is too specialized to the limited ruleset. More often than not the bear wins by lateral movement.

ok i just saw a little malnourished polar bear getting gored by the walruses tusks.. but i dont think that is a proper representation of a big healthy polar bear.

because here are two videos of polar bears absolutely murking walruses.

I'm pretty sure polar bears only kill young or injured walruses. @Zookeeper Gabe

I've been told by Alaska natives that during the summer, Polar Bears will go after full grown male walruses. Of course if they have a choice it will be a juvenile or female. They also told me, really really only hunt walruses during the summer, when the Walrus are forced to rest on the beach, where the bears are also, and much more willing to take on a walrus, due to seal being almost inposslve to catch when not on the ice.

It's not unheard of for an adult grizzly bear to prey on a bison or buffalo in the wild, they are on the menu. His gif obviously did not represent that.

the polar bear is larger than the walrus in both of those videos, just juveniles. full grown male walruses are twice that size, show me a video of a polar bear killing one.

Gaurs are bigger and stronger than the African cape buffalo. They're the largest of all bovines.

The African buffalo has a more aggressive temperament though. I've read that they're the second most dangerous animals in Africa after the hippo. I guess that's because they have to deal with more threats being out in the open savannah vs the forest dwelling gaur.
