No Spoilers Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

just was busting Scadutree guy’s ass, wondering why everyone hated him, and his second life bar came…. Should have known, that stinky turd..

Just when I was about to beat him on my third attempt, and I get disconnected from the damn server! Man, I’m hot as hades now…
Just found him myself. I thought people were talking about Midra when they said sunflower boss but then I stumbled upon a swamp

Dude… just died again. You’re in for a “treat”. It sucks as much as they say.

I’m getting high blood pressure from this turd. Sometimes you “hit” him, but the game doesn’t care. Think I’m going back to beat putrescent knight before I get an embolism

Oh, and since you found him, Gauis is in that area too.

Serious question… Did any of you really enjoy any of these bosses? As a vet and completer of all the From Souls games, I haven’t really enjoyed these bosses at ALL. They just aren’t fun to me, and I like difficult. These bosses seem more cheese than difficult. Maybe it’s me, and I’m just getting old, but for the most part, I’ve despised them all besides Renalla.

Found Gaius earlier but still haven't beat him.

I've enjoyed most of them but there are some annoying bosses for sure. Second playthrough is usually more enjoyable for me so I don't really know how I'd rate it yet.

You’re a killer, man. I just don’t like them, and haven’t hated some of the souls bosses as much since ds2. Definitely a “me” problem then, as many are having much more fun with them than I.

Definitely not just a you problem brother. I'm pretty much in the same boat and have noticed others in the community with the same feelings. It may be more of a minority opinion but I've definitely seen it shared enough for it to be warranted. It's undeniable the boss design has shifted significantly from the traditional Souls series boss design. It's just a matter if you enjoy this new direction in boss design and there is nothing wrong with liking it. It just isn't for me.

Absolutely, some serious highs and a few lows like pretty much every Souls game.

Some awesome sense of accomplishment when you topple some of these things.

Well I feel better hearing this from others who are actually playing the game and have played the others too. Don’t just want to shit on them and act like my opinion is necessarily right. Though I felt like I’m on crazy pills will the amount of love I’ve been seeing for them too.
Kind of mixed feeling about it all around. Maybe it’s just burning out from them too, but I really feel this crop of bosses is lacking, but that’s just my 2 cents.

Will definitely complete it, but I’m not itching to go back anytime soon, unlike every other souls game.

Another thing to bring joy back lol. I love the cerulean coast and charros hidden grave. Those brilliant colors makes me happy in a very solemn game. Reminds me a bit of certain areas in ghosts of Tsushima.

Who have been your high and low?

In a game that’s about summoning Ashes and other players, soloing bosses is handicapping yourself. It’s basically a challenge run if you’re not utilizing basic game play mechanics. The bosses are clearly tuned around having multiple people in the arena.

I’ve come to accept it’s a different type of game.

Still need the last boss but so far.

Highs have been Messmer, I think that fight and move set is incredible. My highlight of the DLC. Rellana, Romina, Putrescent Knight and Midra were all really enjoyable as well.

Lows were Scadutree Avatar, one of the worst bosses I’ve fought in a From game. I also wasn’t a big fan of Gaius, mounted bosses aren’t the most fun. Putrescent is mounted but they approached that fight in a way I hadn’t seen before.

That’s definitely a factor for me. I’ve never used summons… until now. I just knew after so many attempts on certain bosses, and seeing how they act, that I’m no longer up to task soloing some of them and it doesn’t sit well. It’s a part of the game now more than ever, so that’s on me. I just don’t care for it after more than a decade of being the lone character in control in these worlds. Summons feel just like a cheap way to get aggro off of me, but I had to due to some of their constant pressure and unrelenting move sets.
