No Spoilers Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Yeah, lightning axe guy, I beat him like 10 minutes after that message.

He fucked me up for like 10-15 attempts with that massive aoe attack and kept catching me with his health recover grab attack.
That dungeon kinda sucked. Not a fan of death blight.

Way behind you guys. Struggling to get the motivation to play due to work and stuff despite the DLC being awesome.

Just beat the Lion. Got him on my 4th attempt. Cool boss for the most part but i really didn't understand the delayed hitboxes added to his regular attacks during his elemental phases. The lightning and ice phases especially seems like it's RNG whether you can avoid damage at all. Can you i-frame everything or is it a matter of out positioning it and/or RNG?
Yeah lion's lightning on the ground is a problem. Not sure if you can iframe it or if it's better to just get out before it explodes.

Commander Gaius is some bullshit. I can't even survive long enough to get my mimic out lol
That’s actually a complaint I have about this dlc. Every boss has some move where they charge you as soon as you go through the mist. It’s just annoying, 1 or 2 would have been okay but over half the bosses do this crap

Finally found Jori and the last piece of the map!

I was probably a pretty high level for that fight. First time I died from having five flasks left. Got him on the second try. Crazy bleeds and two stuns, he was barely able to get a cast off.

Apparently you can chain bs him. If they don't patch it out I'll cheese him next time. Fuck that annoying boss.

I would never have found that map piece on my own. I kept trying to climb down from the section above where you fight Romina and concluded it must be a late game area that you spend the rest of the dlc trying to reach.

Did you explore that entire new area? There's one spot with a bunch of rune bears but I noped out.

I'm making insane progress now. I fucked up so badly with my build and weapon. I've always been the type of player to prefer faster one handed swords. In this DLC, everything has long combos and you have a small window of opportunity to land a blow. Given that, I decided it would be best to just equip a massive weapon that deals a lot of damage in one hit since I can't land more than one on most enemies. Went to the Anvil hammer and I'm sticking with it the entire game. I'm doing like 1500 every hit and 2000 with a heavy attack.

I also didn't even know about soft caps, now that I'm paying attention to them I don't go past 50 with any stat except for vigor at 60.

My character is just so different now.

I’m also +16 on Scadu shards and he’s really soft. I hit pretty hard at this point.

I had totally forgotten about the area under Shadow Keep until last night. Just kept exploring, dropping further and further down and was pretty shocked something that important was down there lol.

I just beelined to the map piece and called it a night.

Taking it slow and not much time. That death knight guy is very early into it, but I found him very tough for some reason. Just a small dungeon boss, and he took it to me…

Digging the difficulty so far.

The one thing the DLC and Elden Ring in general does better than any other game is give you such a rewarding sense of exploration. I remember around where you start the DLC looking off the cliff and seeing that big dead dragon and showing my wife and saying "look at that dead dragon, that's pretty cool." Then a few hours later just wondering though and playing I ended up right in front of that dragon. It seemed so far at the beginning and I wasn't at even thinking of trying to get to it but I just happened to end up at it from playing. That moment will honestly sit up there with me as one of the coolest moments I've experienced in gaming. Knowing that every part of this map is there for me to explore and not just be a cool backdrop. This is coming from someone who mostly prefers a linear approach to his games.

Winter Lantern Flies in the area that triggers madness…

Bloodborne 2 confirmed?

This entire DLC feels like a “From Software’s greatest hits” at times. Like Stone Coffin fissure makes me think of Giant’s Tomb from Dark Souls 1 for example. Except the boss, Putrescent knight you fight him in Midir’s arena. It takes more than a few purple flowers to make me suddenly not recognize Midir’s arena after developing PTSD from my experiences there.

Soon as you load in run left around the wall corner before trying to summon.

They come at you like tigers on pcp.

The finger boss lets you cast buffs and summon. But most of them don't.

I really haven't spent much time on Messmer yet. Fought him as a summon a few times so I at least have an idea what I'm in store for.
Gaius can eat a dick. I've spent the last few days exploring but I'll be back to him soon.

It's the revenge factor that eats at the back of my mind that drives me on as much as anything else in these games. I haven't had time to play the past week, but the weekend is here.

Messmer is such a prick with his flamboyant taunt after he kills you. My next run is all about exploring everywhere and finding scadutree upgrades mainly just to kill him lol.

Man the stats on this DLC are nuts, with a peak player count of over 760k+, 80% of ER's peak 950k+ count

I thought I read somewhere that From and Bandai were planning on doing other media for the game, like an Anime?

I'd love to see what the world was like when the population was vast (alive) and Godfrey was wrecking shit, and follow with Radagon's rise and the war with Liurnia.

I love the lore, like Dark Souls it needs to be explored in a form like anime, which would likely do justice best. It's too late for Dark Souls, but is ER is still on fire.

Everyone knows Vaati, but my fav Souls lore channel is Hawkshaw. I've probably fallen asleep to this 5 times already.
