No Spoilers Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

I’m also seeing a lot of backlash to the difficulty and I’m finding it pretty amusing as you had tons of people who couldn’t even beat Mohg now jumping into a From DLC.

It’s by far their most popular title and I just don’t see the mass appeal carrying over to this. It’s not even being hardcore about it, these games just aren’t made for everyone. Miyazaki said that himself in a recent interview.

Veterans knew what was in store but for someone whose first From game was Elden Ring, they probably had no idea that pop in the mouth that was waiting for them.

How much more difficult does NG+ make the DLC? Is it worth starting another game?

I'm still slogging through it at ng+6 and level 340. It's not easy but I wasn't about to start over and have to level up and grind just to get into the new content.

Finally found Hippo, exploring the castle now. Those hitboxes on his attacks are ridiculous. I’ve been finding myself way too impatient and greedy because I was able to coast through the main game on my recent play through. Legitimately have to buckle down and play more thoughtfully.

First attempt on hippo and I rolled directly into its mouth as it charged. That was a learning experience.

Fromsoft needs to update their engine again. The dlc is pretty and all but their graphics are so last gen now.

If he starts the charge anywhere near you I don’t think there’s anything you can do about it. I tried rolling, running, jumping away. If I was close I was getting chomped.

I’m only NG+1 and level 240, maybe I’ll just give it a try.

Can you jump Rellana's aoe in the second phase or do you have to outrun it?

Looks like it covers the whole arena but maybe there's room to run.

Am I supposed to be fighting Messmer already? Lol

Depends on which one you mean. The fire you can run away from. The shockwaves from the moons you can jump over. The one I couldn’t figure out was the wide magic sword swipe. That got me every time.

Yeah it's the moon shockwaves that keep getting me. I'll try to remember to jump while I'm panicking.

She's a cheater man. I swear she does shit that breaks physics. Like there's no way she can turn at that angle!

Fuck the Black Gaol Knight and his mama.

been waiting for the dlc before i start my 5th journey. downloading now. my body is ready.

i'm debating just starting a fresh character even though i'll probably just end up rocking the exact same build in the end

i mean at level 355 and rocking the starscourge greatsword the whole way through i'm already tearing right through everything except a few bosses to the point where nothing's really much of a challenge anymore.

i'm thinking a fresh start might be ideal. just to keep me on my toes and shit. but ive already came this far with 4 journeys. i dont really want to abandon what i've started.

ugh.

fuck it. i think i'm just gonna make a new character for now. my older one aint going anywhere.

it probably won't take too long for me to catch back up. i'll probably just end up farming those albinarauc's until my eyes bleed. but then again thats the only reason i got as stupidly overpowered as i did in the first place. maybe i won't go so hard on them this time.

Are you in the dlc?

Are you in the dlc?

i'm just about to install it now.

funny enough i haven't even really looked at anything regarding the dlc yet. all i've seen was a trailer they put out a while ago and that was it. i really don't know what to expect, and i dont know what the general consensus is with this dlc, except there was like a cool martial arts move they were doing in the trailer, and if i can just go full bruce lee on everything this time i think that's what i am going to try to do lol

They assumed they’d steamroll everything with busted builds. DLC essentially was a reset and we’ve back to how we were level 1 in the base game. That’s how people should treat this dlc

wow. i'm just googling it now and theres alot of people saying the difficulty is way too hard and shit, even after they've breezed through the game several times and shit.

they are basically calling it one-shot city.

there's been a spike of refunds too.

i'm looking forward to giving it a go. maybe. i guess. we'll see how it goes.

i'm actually stoked to start anew. i'm gonna see how far i can push without my mimic tear. with the exception of melenia because fuck that dirty whore.

seems like you need to collect lots of Scadutree Shards to increase your blessing level just to have a shot at it, as thats what the DLC scaling is mostly based on. yeah i can see why people would be getting roflstomped if they try to take bosses head on without going around and getting those things first. but even then, many people seem to be struggling with some bosses.

i can just envision someone trying to torture themselves by doing a naked no-summon no-scadutree shard dlc run. playing the game with like a guitar hero controller or some shit

alright well anyways praise the sun. time to get my ass handed to me all over again.
