Multiplat ELDEN RING: NIGHTREIGN

So am I the only Sherbro actually playing this so far? If anyone does want to play on PS5 and is looking for a teammate my PSN name is NewtondaNewt

I've put a few hours in since yesterday. Beaten the first two 3rd night bosses. I'm tempted to put it away for a while until they fix the performance issues on PC. I have a 4070ti and a 14600k and I'm getting frame drops to 45fps at medium settings quite regularly. Max settings was nigh on unplayable. Pretty inexcusable imo.

Looks like my original criticism that this is a cash grab stands...

Wasn't one of the main selling points enemies and bosses from past FS games? WTF happened to that lol?

Yeah I’m confused about this as well. I haven’t seen any footage of older bosses. I remember in the reveal trailer they showed off nameless king. Did they just show off future DLC and make it appear like it was in the base game?

Was liking it at first but this game is mega frustrating. I love roguelikes but the elements in this just aren't that great.

The relics you equip before games don't even feel like they change your character they have barely any effect, doesn't feel like you can put together any proper builds.

there's no incremental upgrades after runs, I love that in roguelikes the feeling of getting slightly stronger bit by bit.

Only has 1 map so almost every run feels the same. pretty strange considering they already had multiple locations basically ready to use from the main game.

All of the night lord bosses are annoying to fight, they just have massive health pools and it takes forever to beat them, I've barely beat any of them even with decent co-op players.

Saying that it still has Elden rings gameplay so keeps you engaged, also it's been fun trying weapons that I never had never used in Elden Ring.

I'm disappointed, hoping they will address some of these issues in the future because there is a good game underneath it.

Yeah they have some bosses from the other games, so far I've came across Nameless King, Gaping Dragon, Smelter Demon, Dear Freya's spider or whatever it's called and I think 1 more I'm forgetting what it was though.

Bosses aside even, the major asset flip this is just screams F2P ER expansion and not pay-for standalone title. I hope anyone who buys this likes it but, IMO, the man hours put into it could have better served what upcoming projects they’ve underway instead. I guess I’m saying this feels like an odd-duck portfolio entry for From.

Man, given how beloved Elden Ring is on Sherdog I’m honestly surprised how few of us are playing this. Guess From really dropped the ball on giving the people what they wanted.

I came across a funny Youtube comment:

Blizzard for Diablo Immortal: “Don’t you people have phones?”
Gearbox for Borderlands 4: “Don’t you people have $80?”
Fromsoftware for Nightreign: “Don’t you people have two friends?”

Because ER was actually a good game

I think they overestimated the multiplayer desire for a game such as this. When it comes to these types of..."David vs Goliath" games, I believe most prefer to take on the challenge themselves, and lean on MP if they have to, or just for variety. From what I can tell, that's the main flaw with the game. People don't like being forced to play MP.

I'll think they'll patch it pretty quickly to make soloing a lot more manageable, since that seems to be what's really holding it back for most.

It's already financially a big hit. 3.5 million copies sold. That's pretty crazy for their first time doing something like this.

A popular game studio when they initially produce slop always get a consensus pass with high game units sold.

You know what? This game is actually really fun. I picked it up last night because I was kind of bored. Not getting Switch 2 and Lost Soul Aside being delayed left me with no other major title to play besides a couple of indies. Also no interest in death stranding. only played 3 matches. Got to the Cerberus but got smashed. Game seems really hard. One thing I’ve noticed is that levels make a huge difference here. Level 1 you die in like one or two hits and with each level you can see a substantial change in stats. Seems really important to level up more than anything. I had a leaver in one game and in the other we lost to the day 2 boss three tree sentinels. That thing had so much health.

Picked it up finally! Is there a discord or anything to find people to play with by any chance?

I'm currently working away from home so haven't got to play this week but I'm enjoying it a lot, even as a solo player just grouping with randos. So far I've beaten 5 night lords, using the archer exclusively. I'm planning on clearing it with that character then I'll see how I feel about going again with a different one.

Well, I'm personally having fun with the game.
Got my first win and plan on going for 100%
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it and congrats on the W. You manage that solo Q or three-stacking? I think NR is doing well, actually.

Have we yet any numbers on sales and/or playercount beyond Steam Charts?

It sold 2.5 mil in the first couple of days. 140,000 playing on Steam at the minute.

Took 11 hours to kill the first night lord. One hour for the second. I’m hoping the teams will be better from now on. It’s weird because the first two expeditions I went on I was the player weighing everyone down and we got really far. The next few hours after that I had leavers, people not following pings, and a couple of people never leveling up and during that time didn’t get to the nightlord again once. Feels good to have him dead. I was getting frustrated but still had fun

I just join randoms and hope for the best <{MingNope}>
