Multiplat ELDEN RING: NIGHTREIGN

Damn that’s disappointing. Everything since the reveal has been worse and worse.
The whole thing is bizarrely and cheaply done. If everything is procedurally generated, why couldn't they easily add other areas? It doesn't make sense.

And one of the streamers who had played the demo (maybe Lobos, I forget) suggested they had improved the netcode. But I'm not so sure about that. It felt like I was getting framerates in the 40s on PS5 and the gameplay was pretty laggy. You couldn't really tell when you were hitting enemies other than watching their HP bar. There was no feedback in the controller and the hit animations were off.

There is only one map apparently. I assumed the full game would rotate around different areas of ER but it only uses Limgrave with randomized castles, enemy camps, etc. Wtf even worse than I thought.
Limgrave at least for me was also ironically the weakest region of the realm: plains and diet forests of no note. While From’s art direction is da Vincean, their fauna and nature have always been pretty crap. Major snooze on map selection here.

Oh, then it's an easy pass.

What a letdown.
It really is a letdown. I'm going to be busy with the new Doom anyway when this releases (unless it sucks which is highly unlikely). But eventually I might pick it up when it goes on sale, especially if they release an offline solo mode that eliminates the online performance issues. I don't know.

Yeah no Caelid, no Altus Plateau, just boring Limgrave.

i hadn't heard of this. for a minute i thought they were releasing another elden ring expansion already and somehow it managed to fly under my radar but it seems as if that isn't really the case.

Haven't updated this for a while. Playing the game solo is supposed to be viable due to enemy health/damage scaling depending on 1 or 3 players. Boss fights with multiple enemies remain that way, though.

Still on the fence so it's not gonna be a day one for me.

I’ll let you know how it is if you don’t get it day one. I was against it originally but it looks like there’s a good amount of content and it appears that each run will be very different. Got bored of Monster Hunter wilds already which is a shame so I’m looking for a live service title to replace it.

Bandai Namco/FromSoftware hosted a eight influencer team tournament tonight with Neightreign for its launch. At the conclusion a four way tie existed. Overtime was played out without telling the four influencer teams remaining what the win condition was in overtime.

Epitome of what this game is, lol.

I read a review, they gave it an 80. The article points out a bunch of ways it's flawed, then makes excuses for them or says it's actually why it's good.

I have no idea how the game is actually but I assume if FromSoftware shipped a game that was just images of the developers assholes (that you purchase by lootbox), it would get a 75-90.

Decided to pass. I was loving the latest trailers and everything but many people are saying the game is just completely frustrating to play unless you have a group of friends to play with. No voice chat or any communication options within the game. Soloing is nearly impossible because of how it’s designed. These criticisms are coming from some individuals who like a lot of the same stuff I do so I’ll be spending my money on a couple of indies instead. Did anyone actually buy it and how they liking it?

I'm surprised they didn't think to have this launch with a duos option in addition to the already problematic experience and balancing around solo Q. Grabbing one buddy has to be the majority of players after solo; a full three stack being the lesser of both play groups, I'd wager, and yet they're the focus here? Maybe they have data that says otherwise and justifies this design choice?

I read this doesn't have cross platform play which seems a bit retarded in this day and age.

Been watching some of the gameplay and it's definitely not for me.

I just wish they had put these much better armour sets and weapon animations in regular Elden Ring.

Theyre a game studio known for designing one type of single player game. Knowledge needed to think this far into subsystems is something they dont possess.

So I played for about two hours tonight with one buddy. Another buddy of mine is picking it up but he ordered a physical copy and it’s coming on Wednesday apparently. I’m looking forward to playing with two friends instead of just one, because the game forces you to play with a third person so my buddy and I keep just randomly getting matched up with jobbers that we can’t communicate with who just fuck off and do their own thing. It should be much better once we have our third man next week.

Over all I am having fun with it so far. It’s a little bit hectic, as there’s plenty to see and do, but you can’t take your time to smell the roses and explore, so you have to keep moving. I view this as simultaneously a good thing and bad thing. It keeps the game moving, but I think a lot of players will feel overwhelmed.

I’ll play some more tomorrow night with my buddy, but I’m really looking forward to next week when we’ll have a complete crew to play and start coordinating where we’re going to go and what we’re going to do together.

To early to give it a score but I’m going to keep playing.

Taking you & @Dizzy under the wing would be a heavy burden.
