Khabib refused to fight for an interim title, and Tony earned a shot at Conor the hard way by winning 10 in a row including an interim belt....yet all of a sudden Khabib is fighting Tony and it makes no sense for either fighter.

Conclusion: The UFC offered Khabib and Tony enough money to make it a deal they couldn't refuse.

You're right on Tony getting shafted in this situation, but in the Stipe title fight is a little different. I like what Ariel said about it, he said they have to hype up the challenger for it to sell better. Stipe is on his third title defense and he's not a very sellable apparently, so they hype up Ngannou as the Godzilla of combat sports. In the end it benefited Stipe.

Then after Barboza, they give him a newcomer in Lando?? Okay. He chokes him out then they toss RDA at him, who just came off a title fight with Alvarez? Huh? How does that add up? How do you go from "first fight in the UFC" Lando to RDA? Whatever. So he ends up "tuning up" a beast in RDA. Title shot for sure, right? Nope! Let's give him Kevin "I think that's Staph" Lee, who should never have fought anyone inside the top 5 let alone the #1 contender.
