Media Eddie Hearn explains how exploitative UFC pay model is ?

Next will be breaking news that water is wet. What he fails to mention is that UFC fighters get money from Venom (formerly Reebok). They also get free uniforms. So the UFC fighters have that going for them.
.....Damn, they get free shirts and maybe 20K if they have 15 bouts in the UFC

TBF the UFC subsidizes a bunch of no-name guys who would not make 15/15 or whatever the base pay is anywhere else.

Still they should pay their stars more money.

My god, he made a level headed criticism off the UFC model while also praising other parts off it and all the UFC fan boys come out "wHy u tAlKiNg sHiT bRo"

Is there any other sport or entertainment medium where people will simp this card for a company

on the flip side, is there any sport where the fans simp more for the millionaire athletes than MMA?

They do get the free uniforms and I would imagine Venom/Reebok maybe throw in a few free shirts and a jogging suit as well.
Yup, and to complete the outfit, they will now all wear The Rock's under armor shoes. Being dripped out from head to toe in mismatch brands definitely makes up for the massive amounts of money they could be making...

That's what's so bizarre about the MMA fans who genuinely like Dana White.

In other sports, you have people who are diehard fans of particular franchises, but there's no other sporting organization with a cult of personality built up around the ownership and top execs, especially if they're as consistently dishonest as Dana has been.

Eddie Hearn is a fuckin scum bag, can't stand to hear that snake talk.

Hearn is one of the better major boxing promoters in history, and he's far less of a snake than Dana is.

You see I think the issue really isnt just that "fighters are underpaid" some of them are but also I think theres a "you get what you pay for" situation in terms of MMA talent.

The fighters earning very little from the UFC honestly a lot of them simply arent that good, maybe there not worth much more than that. The problem is more than because the UFC intro pay is so low your not getting as many good fighters moving to MMA as you might were they more like the 80/20 spilt.

I think its that early pay thats often key, you'll have something in say kickboxing, BJJ, Judo, etc look at MMA and wonder "is it worth the risk switching for this? I could earn decent money 5 years down the line if I'm sucessful but why switch for pennies now?".

I remember when Dana used to say shit like that to validate pay.

IDK about BJJ but in kickboxing only a handful of guys are making good money.

As I said.. I think big stars and champions should be making more. I don't have much problems with the entry level guys making 15/15 to be honest. Most of them are not "UFC caliber" and at the end of the day the promotion ends up losing money on them.

Once they prove they are UFC material (let's say 6/7 fight veterans with mixed record) I think they should make more money too. Veterans fighting for 25/25k is pretty ridiculous IMO.

The pay is terrible, even at the top. They pay more now but they don't get sponsorship money. They do get the free uniforms and I would imagine Venom/Reebok maybe throw in a few free shirts and a jogging suit as well.
So all the sponsors you see on fighters Instagram aren't paying them?

College athletes now get to sign better endorsement deals. Sports entertainment is what it is.

I believe they get a hundred doge coins as well...so there's that

Thats because most major sports pay their athletes properly. Theres very few millionaire fighters in ufc whereas even a rookie in the nba is guaranteed 900k and if youve been in the league for more than 10 years, you get 2.6 million minimum. But that fotn bonus though! Lol

You know what's even more comical? Ufc makes way more revenue than any nba team yet one stars yearly salary is more than all of the ufc combined lol

It's madness
