I like when fighters don't get paid too much. It keeps them hungry.
Which is why all the UFC execs totally don't make loads of money, because they got to stay hungry.I like when fighters don't get paid too much. It keeps them hungry.
Related to UFC fighter pay, he mentions how in boxing, with bigger fighters, they usually share 80:20 in fighters favour.
They don't get punched in the face for their money. If I give you a million per fight, you might fight 2 or 3 times before you retire. If I pay you 20k per fight, you might fight forever.Which is why all the UFC execs totally don't make loads of money, because they got to stay hungry.
They get to wear sponsor clothes in the ring or in press conferences? So all the sponsors you see on fighters Instagram aren't paying them?
"and yes, they have sponsors who pay them."you must mean terrible in comparison to some other sports, not in absolute $'s. the top fighters can still make millions a year.
and yes, they have sponsors who pay them.
This sums it up.Boxing has at least 5, probably more, major promotions that have to complete with each other as well as the Ali Act. UFC dominates the MMA market and has nothing to restrict it. It's apples and oranges.
Thats because most major sports pay their athletes properly. Theres very few millionaire fighters in ufc whereas even a rookie in the nba is guaranteed 900k and if youve been in the league for more than 10 years, you get 2.6 million minimum. But that fotn bonus though! Lol

Yep. And all those washouts who couldn't hack it in the UFC are instead resorting to trying out for the NFL, MLB, NBA, etc making at least 1/2 a million a year to ride the pine.Just think of the endless young talent lining up to try out MMA in the next 10 years for that 5k / 5k paycheck !
That's clearly not how boxing works. Are mma fighters just less tough? They don't get punched in the face for their money. If I give you a million per fight, you might fight 2 or 3 times before you retire. If I pay you 20k per fight, you might fight forever.
What does that have to do with social media where the most sponsors care to promote now? What's better reaching 1 million people who follow and like that fighter and see a specific product used and discussed in a post or reaching 1 million random UFC fans who may or may not be paying attention to a small logo? They get to wear sponsor clothes in the ring or in press conferences?
