Eddie Hall vs Thor - March 19th

Niether of them hit even mildly close to as hard as top pro hws
Maybe not, but they still ca generate a ton of power. Eddie did hit a punching machine and clocked in at an astronomical amount. Both of these guys dead lifted 500KG - the power it takes to do that is insane.

This was a while ago too, assuming he can hit harder as his technique has gotten better.

Both dudes have a lifetime of strength training and muscle memory for that. They also are giant human beings that don't move anything like decent boxers.
Cardio is huge in boxing and in being able to absorb punishment.
For as hard as they may be able to hit a bag their punching power and accuracy probably is nowhere near what of a pro heavyweight UFC fighter let alone a boxer.
I honestly think it will look like a tough man contest. Nothing more.
I dont expect either of them to have boxing cardio. Probably will be more push downs & slips than knockdowns.
I will say Thor looked pretty composed vs Devon while Devon was flailing and had no idea what he was doing. Thor did stick to straight boxing and busted him up good. However, Devin was 50 out of shape & had 0 boxing experience. Eddie coming at him will be a lot different.
The tough man contest aspect is what makes it compelling too. The fact they are not polished boxers increases the 'anything can happen factor', especially adding the fact they are evenly matched giant men that are the strongest men in the world. People love that unpredictable tough man brawl kind of stuff, like how when a fist fight breaks out at a UFC people stop watching the pro fight and watch the brawl in the crowd.

Thor has definitely done things correct and is trying to go about boxing the right way. Eddie seems to be wanting to apply alot of strong man mentality here and that could bite him (or he could graze Thor and sleep him). It's your classic boxer vs brawler approach, emotional Eddy vs calculated Thor, and I think we either get an exciting knockout or a boring sloppy hugfest. "someone's 0 has got to go!" <Lmaoo>

Hmm normally I'd agree with that but these two were literally the strongest men in the world at one point. They're also above 300 pounds each.

That being said I fully expect them to gas in under a minute, and Eddie will be throwing ridiculous haymakers from the jump with zero technique. His training videos have been an absolute joke, no form at all. Meanwhile Thor actually looks like a halfway competent boxer, at least during training.
Im inclined to agree with you about Eddie gassing, but the dude was the top swimmer in England by a mile and still swims like crazy. He has that stumpy jacked type body but also lost a ton of weight and swimming is one of the best ways to improve your cardio - just ask Nick Diaz. Thor has done multiple exhibition matches, and tho that will be a bit different than a real fight, he has shown he has done decently with energy management. Both guys understand what it takes to succeed at a sport and have that elite mindset and dedication too, so we may end up being surprised on the cardio front.

I do think Eddie - from his footage - is going to be throwing haymakers. Thor seems like the much better boxer, but even Devon cracked him clean a few times. If Eddie does that, it could be over. My gut says it should be like Thor -300, but cant count a guy like Eddie out.....he will give it his all, and if he was not lying, he has been taking out pro boxers in these practice fights he has been having behind closed doors.

Neither guy punch hard like hw boxers, watching their previous bouts, Thor has some advantage pacing, however hall looks to have a lot of willpower.
Thor RD3

Yesterday's sloppy barbeque brawl between Kharitonov & Malik Scott basically showed how this fight is going to look like... Not expecting a modern day version of Mike Tyson vs. Razor Ruddock.

That press conference altercation looked fake by the way. Maybe they should try WWE... with Undertaker, Kane and Big Show being in their 50s, they're in need of younger big guys.

I would love to see a prime Foreman hitting that thing.

I believe the footage that was shown of ngannou hitting that thing showed that he threw a normal realistic punch. Hall was starting from way out and was stepping in with his back foot sometimes twice and had a ridiculous windup.

those machines are bullshit.

Is there an undercard? Are there any interesting fights on that?

Prediction: Eddie Hall is going to be gassed after 20 seconds and get knocked out due to exhaustion.
Prediction; they are both gonna gas after 30 seconds cos of all the emotion, have a huge adrenaline dump and whoever recovers first will score an unimpressive TKO before paramedics rush in with defibs and oxygen for both

At 1st I was rooting for Hall. For a guy like him to win strongman was pretty incredible.
However, he acts like a total twat. Why is Thor being a sore loser such a big deal to him?
They both seem like crybabies to be honest.
Thor looks to have the way better technique and actual boxing form. Hall just seems to load up and throw wide hay makers super low on the bag. Does he realize he's fighting a giant....
Interesting freak show fight.
After seeing them both spar Thor looks way better to me.

Eddie’s been a bit of a dick in the run up to this but he is genuinely a good dude. His documentary is inspirational tbh, filmed a couple of years before his WSM win and just as he broke the world deadlift record. Well worth a watch. An underdog story really, and shows not only his pure dedication to the sport, but his love for his family as well. He quit the sport the day he achieved his goal, for his family.

It's good that they are running and swimming for cardio etc. but it's completely different when you have an opponent in front of you, meaning you have to adapt and react all the time and can't get into a rhythm. You get tired in a whole different way in those situations.

I'm going to watch this and I can't deny I'm hyped. My heart is hoping for a ding dong battle for the ages, but my head tells me that if there isn't an early ko, they are going to gas and get increasingly sloppy all the way down to Kimbo vs Dada levels of embarassment... either way, it will be enjoyable.

Yeah I believe I've seen big chunks of it. Its a cool story for sure. Love the fact that he was able to beat real life giants while looking like he did. Its his borish behavior thats annoying to me. Dude just burps non stop all over the place & is pretty crass. Its kind of disgusting. Also, he seems more like a bully than Thor. Eddie can be funny but he just takes stuff too far. Like you won dude who cares what Thor thinks. It's also annoying how they pretend to hate eachother then shake hands.
I also don't believe Eddie's bullshit about beating really good pro heavyweight fighters in "real private fights." Lmao.

I hope there is a legit knockout and not a bunch of slip knockdowns from exhaustion, arms flailing, & feet getting tangled. However, I can see it now.

Is there headgear????

Right. Boxing cardio being on your feet on that canvas is totally different than other forms of cardio. Not to mention just the "bright lights" & packed crowd with a ring walk can be an adrenaline dump right there. Getting beat on on worried about getting hit at the same time as having to produce punches makes it twice the energy drain. Especially when you have little to no experience in all those scenarios at the same exact time.

Thor in a one sided affair bu actually taking this as seriously as he could. Eddie is going for a Haymaker
