Eddie Alvarez vs Prime Takanori Gomi

Gomi....no evidence or reason given here since this fight will never happen but I'm a big fan of Gomi since day one and will be till the last day.

Eddie is having longer success as a top LW with some ups n downs but Gomi had a reign of terror even if shorter and never recovered once it went down, it was glorious while it lasted.

Aoki sint really a good gauge because of his style, Eddie got subbed by arguably the best jiu jitsu fighter in the game in their first fight, but Aoki got annihilated in their 2nd fight. I'd use Kawajiri as the measuring stick and Eddie put him away with strikes, very difficult to do. I'd argue that Eddie hit his prime around the time he fought Chandler though, which was when they stopped fighting the same guys.

Don't get me started. The only person he's even fought in the current top 15 at LW was MJ who is now ranked 11. That was 2 years ago!

He's above poirier who's just gone 6-1-0-1 at LW and just finished Pettis.

James Vick should be above him for sure, yet he's at 14!?

Iaquinta should be above him.

Kevin Lee should 100% be above him.

Gomi made his name off knocking out cans, he couldn't KO Kawajiri, Eddie did.. they both fought him in his prime. He knocked no one credible out, and a lot of his KOS were what would be deemed illegal in the current rules. Soccer kicks, head knees on that ground ect.

He's also been knocked out By B level competition more than once

and lol you're probably the only person in the world who thinks eddie has more power and a better chin than prime gomi, also nice MMAth.
 
Prime Gomi was impossible to KO

I say he knocks out or submits Alvarez in a war, late in the 10 minute first round.
