Eddie Alvarez on MMA vs Boxing

Just because you been to a mma gym a few times doesn't make you a mma fighter lmao

Bruv

youre an idiot

Ive had 18 cage-fights, a dozen kickboxing bouts, have done hundreds of karate point tournaments and nogi jiu jitsu comps. I have also cornered over 200 fights ammy/pro.

But yea, I just attended a few classes and now am a know-it-all

Absolutely right...

Boxers need rules to be effective...

Change even one...and the whole thing comes apart...

Not the case for MMA guys ...take.an option away theres always another...

Good post

you do know there is rules in MMA too right?

and also boxers can KO mutiple people quick.

"case closed"... well not really lol. Hasn't really made a point.

- Boxers train in punching. And nothing else.
- MMA fighters train in punching. And kicking. And grappling.

"Those of us who train in kicking and grappling will beat those who don't train in kicking and grappling!!"

Yeah, wow, great point. No shit.

Boxing rules for both is the only fair option since MMA fighters ALSO train in boxing.

But as MMA-only fans are seeing or anyone who doesn't know shit about boxing is seeing... of course the level of punching and punch defence is MUCH better in boxers, because that's all they do...

'Jack of all trades... master of none.'.

Boxers are masters of 1.

To you, it's "no shit" but a lot of people like @TriangleMonkey don't understand this

nice try, mayorga was 39/40 during his mma fights, and went 3-4 afterwards in boxing fighting bums. so no he was shot to pieces. James Toney was not 40, he was 42. He went 5-4 in his boxing fights afterwards again fighting bums, so he was also shot to pieces. Tim Sylvia was 33, his losses came against Couture for the HW title, Nugouira Interim title fight and Fedor (GOAT). After getting nuked by Mercer he went on a 4 fight ko winning streak. Ben Askren went 1-2 in MMA before getting sparked by fucking jake paul at age 36.

He was 39, whatever, make no difference. I said both were past their prime but made the point they continued to fight after. It's not like they were retired for a few years and then did mma, that is the point. Anyhow, the only point here is that boxers came over to mma, vs amateurs and got spanked.

Context is everything my friend, maybe you should learn that and you won't come off as a clown just throwing age around. Sylvia may have been 33 but was coming of two serious injuries, a year of inactivity and came in a 310 lbs for that fight. If you think that is the same Tim Sylvia that fought the opponents you mentioned in the two years prior then you need get your head examined buddy. Sylvia continued to win vs low level competition.

Yes but between the two...MMA rules is.more likely to.reflect what would happen in open combat vs boxing
isnt all the stuff that would be used in open combat like eye pokes, groin shots, soccer kicks all banned?

Ok... Point being?.

Have a look at the banned techniques in boxing then MMA...

Its pretty clear which ones better suited for open combat

The MMA community is so fucking insecure it’s hilarious lol. The reality is boxing will always have something on MMA. History and legacy. Boxing is in a slump now but that won’t last forever.
The MMA community is filled with weirdos like you who watch MMA enough to have 5K+ posts on an MMA forum, but talk shit about MMA as if it sucks and you don't watch it lol

Its true but unfortunately its not how the majority of people (casuals) see it. MMAs credibility is taking a hit in the public eye recently and its all because some fighters are willing to disgrace the sport for a payday. If a UFC fighter beats Jake Paul, he beat a Youtuber, if Jake Paul beats a UFC guy, it means a UFC fighter just lost to a Youtuber with a bit of boxing experience. MMA is being put into a position where it cannot win, and at the same time boxing is using MMA names to draw extra attention, its all very calculated and annoying.
Bro, the sport is prizefighting. Fighters work in a trade that gives them a very good chance of finishing out their retirement a physical and mental wreck. So what if they want to cash out, that's the entire point of the trade. Get out of here with the faux honor bullshit.

boxing is a joke. slugs like Ksi and Jake Paul would never thrive in mma or any legit sport
like they did in boxing
Errr yes...damn boxing for being a sport that pays out way more money to draws than mma.

10vs10 wouldn't surprise me if the boxers won. If a few of the boxers score knock outs in the first exchanges the MMA guys can't go for the take down due to getting their head stomped.

At the end it will come down to who looses the first few guys first then number we be the key indicator on who wins

By this logic do you support fighters taking dives for money too? they even get to avoid damage that way.
