Earth in 100 years..

Well, they're already possible, in the sense we know how to make them. It's the resources we lack, and more so in 100 years.

I dont like our chances to be here in 100 years... but if we are I dont think it would be a good place to live in, due to overpopulation and the earth collapsing the differences between rich and poor will be a lot bigger, a lot of people will be forced to do shitty jobs to survive and provide for their kids. You guys make me laugh when you talk about "technology" what good is technology when the place where we all live is getting fucked up, it is actually in part due to "technology" that the earth is going to collapse.

Stuff like those "future" building will exist, but they will be basically theme parks, and only the rich will see them.

Climate change will force more and more immigration, and low level conflict. We should see a major world war before then. Of course it wouldn't look like the first 2. Less death and destruction overall, but way more confusing, and psychologically damaging. Trump will seem like a stuffed shirt with no pizzazz. Politicians will run around in fabulous costumes. Social interaction will be very "arty" and contrived. Like Kabooki theater. Sex bots of course, everyone on drugs. Hologram avatars replace skype chatting. Drones everywhere. Animal cyborgs doing all sorts of strange jobs drones can't.

Now that's exactly what's not going to happen. Whenever they write articles with predictions like this history makes sure to prove them wrong. Just so people in the year 2116 can laugh at what the silly people of 2016 thought "the future" would be like.

"Humanity will have colonies on mars and the moon". Just like the 1950s promise of "in the year 2000, man will live on the moon". Nope.

That's the thing, your meant to predict 50-70 years in the future so people can imagine they just might be around in this "future".

All wrong. Future world will be digital. Matrix like world more realistic. Even poor can live rich in matrix.

Many times in the past, the future has been predicted and a few have been somewhat accurate but most haven't.
Futurists always fuck it up by extrapolating on current trends, when its often unanticipated developments that cause a paradigm shift. Few enough predicted the Internet, but nobody predicted how it would transform society.

I personally don't see any of this stuff happening, mostly due to cost. The 3D-printed food is possible, I guess.

Things will mostly be as they are now just better . The biggest change will be appearance. ....no way in hell I'm living under the ocean

If people have to live in earth-scrapers, it means there is no way that the remaining agricultural land can possibly sustain the ridiculously overblown human population.
Yeah but there will be other scientific solutions for that problem. Genetically modified food, etc.

Population growth causes many problems that have to be solved other than just lack of food for the ever-growing number of people.

Even if genetically modified foods will help solve that one issue, they won't solve the other problems. And genetically modified foods aren't magic. Maybe science could modify foods such that it can feed twice the current population, but what about when the population doubles five more times...

Science isn't magic. And we keep treating it like magic...that future scientists are just going to figure everything out and solve it all for us. We landed on the moon 50 years ago. 50 years ago, people legitimately and reasonably believed we would have colonized the moon and Mars by now...but science doesn't move that fast.

Part of the problem with food is reliance on these mega farms. We need to get back to local farming, at least in part. However, suburban sprawl has all but eliminated that possibility. Perhaps future zoning laws might be able to reverse some of the damage done.
I can't imagine trying to explain to all these home owners with their 1.5 acres that we're going to condemn your, your neighbors, and the rest of the neighborhood so it might be returned to farmland.

One other point for now; people best start recycling and conserving resources.

Scientists have now said the future is going to be even more futuristic than previously predicted

The only certainty about the future is that we will have faster porn downloads. In 3D. With personal virtual interactive devices to really immerse oneself in the experience. 90% of the sherdog population will disappear for months on end and will end up hospitalized for dehydration.

Maybe they will die.
