Opinion E Pluribus Unum, or: How I Learned To Reject Partisanship and Love The USA

Did they say where it will all be held? I imagine Philly or DC for the main event?

It will supposedly be in every state, in some form or fashion, with the main blowout taking place in the Heartland.

I will be hosting a huge party in my house for 250. Going all out can’t wait to share photos

A lot of people probably will be.

If that doesn’t get you going you need to get the hell out of here

Washington
Jefferson
Lincoln
T. Roosevelt

We really did get Mount Rushmore correct.

I think I’ve asked, but I need some great books on the founding fathers please

I struggle with which Roosevelt's I think is the goat . But i respect the list as is too.

Maybe I'd change Lincoln and Jeffersons place but I can agree in either order it's just that I have a fascination with that period of history and so feel more connected to him than most presidents

A People’s History of the United States.
I liked it when I read it back in my days in the Navy. But Zinn wrote the book to be a push back against patriotic american history as its taught in k-12. He preaches honesty in teaching history, but clearly doesn't follow through with that in his own work.

I think it's a wonderful book, but I mean your mileage is going to vary based on worldview. It was one of the first books I read that offered a progressive history that focused on the oppressed people and the stories we didn't really learn in school. For all the talk about education in America being a liberal indoctrination I still feel like there were so many things that weren't taught (in my HS) that Zinn covered. But I also do think of it as more of an entry point than like a definitive text.

I dislike our government overall because there is so much corruption but I love my fellow Americans! Overall us Americans are fun, open minded, caring, and hard working.

Washington: A Life is a biography of George Washington, the first President of the United States, written by American historian and biographer Ron Chernow and published by Penguin Press in 2010. The book is a one-volume, cradle-to-grave narrative that attempts to provide a fresh portrait of Washington as real, credible, and charismatic in the same way he was perceived by his contemporaries. Washington: A Life took six years to complete and makes extensive use of archival evidence. The book was released to wide acclaim from critics, several of whom called it the best biography of Washington ever written. In 2011, the book won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography, as well as the New-York Historical Society's American History Book Prize.
