A lot of people want aliens to be real because it would be a paradigm shift. The population would no longer be satisfied with their trivial lives, running on an endless treadmill to pay the bank and government mafia. Which is also why the government will never, ever, tell the truth on the subject. The whole racket would come to an end.
Doesn't mean you can't read in-between the lines and figure some things out, but don't hold your breath for official disclosure on TV with a press conference and all the bells and whistles. Not happening, and in the rare event that it did: it's blue beam. The fact that people expect that to happen before they can even acknowledge the reality of it betrays a flaw in their psychology. Namely, the idea that you need an authority of some kind to validate something before you can even add it to your own mind. If something is real, it's real, doesn't matter if it's acknowledged or not.
