Drinking from the glass at restaurants...

Drinking a soft drink like soda or tea through a straw is fine but never drink alcohol through a straw. And if the beer comes in a bottle I'd rather drink it out of the bottle.

This whole thing was in reference to drinking water/soda.

Don't be like this

if you want to avoid bacteria, don't go to shitty restaurants. it's not a 100% guarantee, but nicer places go out of their way to have clean silverware.

wouldn't the drink you are consuming also be dirty then? you know because its coming from that horrible, filthy glass...

Don't logic at me. You can drink out of the toilet if you do it through a straw.

i thought it kinda depended on where you ate. like if they put a straw in then ill use it. if they dont then thats also fine. makes no dif to me. whats the big deal? youre eating off of forks n spoons that have been in other ppls mouths, whats so bad about a glass?

For the longest time I always drank straight from the glass at restaurants, never using a straw.
Apparently, that's seen as disgusting by two of my friends who are both waitresses. Is this really a thing? Are people who's job it is to clean the dishes really not doing their job?

Are there any other restaurant norms I should be informed of?
Some restaurants & bars are filthy.

Edit: was watching a true crime show, lab tested a restaurant glass for DNA and pulled 4 samples from the lip of the glass. You'd expect that on the outside of the glass from workers handling the glass & then the person drinking out of it but not on the lip of the glass.

lol at those waitresses who are grossed out at drinking out of a glass/cup at a bar or restaurant. chances are, those chick's mouths have been through more filthy things.

99% sure I caught herpes off a glass down at Earl's. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
You sure it wasn't from going down on the Earl who wears glasses? Dyslexia is bitch.

Meh.

People worry too much about germs.

I've heard ask the stories about ask the bacteria and/or germs on hand rails, public door handles, etc etc etc. I've had a bunch of people say, "One I heard about how filthy ____ is, I stopped touching them!"

But I've been touching all those things my whole life and I'm fine. As plenty of others have said, you need to keep your immune system on its toes. It's much more robust than people think. Treat it like it's fragile and it will soon become fragile.

Pretty sure your friends have OCD or are autistic.

Restaurants have these workers called dishwashers. Only little kids drink from straws.

Lol what do they drink from? Sippy cups?

This is off topic, but I never really looked at your AV closely. I always though it was Vitor.

Don't get lemon wedges in your water.

Unless you like drinking shit.

I don't understand.

People are such pussies. All these OCD people raise OCD kids.. and then wonder why they're sick all the time.

It's the kids that grew up rolling around in the dirt that have the teflon immune system when they get older.

Also this. No fucks given here. Our ancestors weren't Purelling the shit out of everything, and here are posting on the interwebs aeons later. In fact, that'll probably be the thing that wipes us out.
