Dricus use to fight at 170 and is not a "Giant" Middleweight plus his only KO loss

It's not like Soldic is some can.

No, shows where decision making gets you. Dricus is becoming a big star whereas Soldic hardly ever fights because he signed a contract with ONE which seems to be too expensive for them to actually fulfil.

Any WW can bulk up and it doesnt necesarilly make him a huge MW.
Im not that sure Dricus is "a huge MW" when there are guys as Pereira, Canonier or Costa who could not even entertain the idea of making 170 at least since they were in their teen years.
Dricus and Strickland both fought their last WW fight in Oct 2018, so they've had nearly the same amount of time to bulk up since making 170. DDP was even ahead 3 weeks

I dont know why people started to treat Strickland like some world beater.
He got very good fight with adesania but hes mostly boring decision machine.
And dont event win a lot.
And after one fight hes killer to destroy anyone in 185.

Almost everyone in any given weight class is a "weight bully* on account of all of them cutting weight. It doesn't become a problem until they become very successful or are fighting a guy you like, who is almost also certainly cutting weight to make the division.

have you seen how wide he is now a days? the boy has a massive back on him. Brock Lesnar is 6'3 and the average height of UFC HW is 6'3. that doesn't mean Brock Lesnar is an average sized HW.

MW is littered with "bloated WWs"

Whittaker
DDP
Khamzat
Strickland

Thread based on a false premise. DDP is indeed a large MW; not the biggest, but bigger than average. My concern with DDP is his showing against Darren Till, one of the most over-rated fighters in UFC history. He was getting outboxed by Till, and lost the 2nd round, on all three judges scorecards. Till had DDP in trouble in the 2nd.

I think Strickland wins a close fight. Strickland's key is to keep in standing and avoid the big shot; he has been very good at both.

I thinks the Vegas odds are correct on this one:

"Strickland is at odds of SugarHouse-129 for the first defense of his 185-pound title. The challenger Du Plessis is at DraftKings+114."

I believe that Dricus wins this fight, prob by TKO/KO in Rd 2 or 3, something like that.
His physicality these days is impressive and he is very aggressive.

Fighters cut a lot of height and weight these days. DDP is walking around at a much height weight these days, and cuts a lot of height and weight to make MW. We even saw Nate cut 2x his height and weight to make LW before

lol best part of this gif is the shadow of Nate's giant hand appearing at the appropriate time over Conor's head. Wonderful attention to detail

Anyone that has seen him next to 6'1" MMA Guru knows he's not that big of a guy.

Plenty of MWs go up to 215-220lbs in between fights. The important data is fight night weight.
Where does Dricus says 215lbs is his weight in fight night? I would be surprised if that's the case. Only Pereira and Costa approached those numbers in fight night as a MWs that I can think of

It was in one of his interviews. I remember he was speaking Afrikaans. He said 97 KG to be exact. There are lots I have seen in the last few months, but trust me he said he goes up to 225 lbs in the off-season, but likers to stay around 215 lbs as much as possible as that is his ideal weight. Trust me, he said it.

Robert Whittaker barely beat Darren Till. Media was basically split 50/50 on who won. The guy still managed to beat several fighters better than Darren Till.

One seems to be literally the worst place you can sign, super shady and restrictive, they basically own your soul there, the ufc just owns you.

That was because Dricus landed something like 60 unanswered punches at the end of round 1 where ref refused to stop it until Til was saved by the bell. Dricus basically cashed in everything there to get the TKO. Dricus was targeting volume than actual really trying to hurt Til with big shots and elbows etc. Til was completely at Dricus' mercy at that time against the cage. Him landing so many fast punches momentarily gassed him in the beginning of round 2. Til was able to land some while Dricus slowed down, but then suddenly as usual, Dricus recovered and started taking the fight over back again before finishing Til.
