Movies Dragonlord's 2014 Movie Guide

I read the short story that the drop is based on. It was pretty enjoyable. Thought it was funny that the main character is supposed to be an ugly, fat, hairy guy with hardly any friends and no women to speak of... And they cast Tom Hardy.

Hehe. Hollywood gonna hollywood. They did make up for it though by making him so weird, seemingly meek, and half a rain man. Plus he's such a damn fine actor.

When does Interstellar come out?

Fuck google this is sherdog

Hey, I made it to the thread title! Neat. :D
I always put posters' reviews on the headlines if their reviews are well-written, at least 2-3 medium paragraphs long and covers a movie nobody has yet reviewed.

Really? He seemed pretty normal in the trailer. How does a man that handsome even become socially awkward? Too much time going in on poon? It makes no sense

And out of curiousity, does the main storyline follow the dog, or the drop bar getting robbed?

Not awkward, just weird.

It's pretty evenly split down the middle.

The Zero Theorem was so bad I can't even describe it. Easily a zero/10.

Friday Box Office:

THE MAZE RUNNER Surges Friday Night for $30M-Plus Debut

The-Maze-Runner-092014-Dragonlord.jpg

Twentieth Century Fox's boy-centric The Maze Runner took off Friday night at the multiplex thanks to younger males and females, putting it on course for a debut of $30 million or more. It's the first YA film adaptation to launch in September, a generally sleepy month at the North American box office. Maze Runner, earning an A- CinemaScore, grossed roughly $11 million for the day from 3,604 theaters, including Imax runs.

Maze Runner hopes to launch a new franchise for Fox, which spent $34 million to make the thriller. Maze Runner follows O'Brien's character as he wakes up with no memory inside the center of a giant maze, an area known as The Glade, surrounded by other teen boys who likewise can't remember anything. Threatening them all are vicious creatures known as Grievers. The boys look for a way out of the maze, but it isn't until a mysterious girl arrives that they have a fighting chance.

Liam Neeson's A Walk Among the Tombstones placed a distant No. 2, earning $4.7 million on Friday for a projected $14 million weekend and coming in behind the actor's other recent action films. Shawn Levy's adult dramedy This Is Where I Leave You is projected to take in $11 million-plus for the weekend after placing No. 3 Friday with $3.9 million (neither film was costly to make).

Critics Review of Adam Wingard's THE GUEST

Rotten Tomatoes: 93% Approval Rating (55 out of 59 critics like it)

Consensus: Boasting enough intelligence to bolster its darkly violent thrills, The Guest offers another treat for genre fans from director Adam Wingard.

Entertainment Weekly - B+
Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens trades in English gentility for all-American menace as a polite and eerily self-possessed houseguest who, if the ominous score is to be trusted, might not be everything he says he is. Director Adam Wingard's follow-up to the 2011 horror flick You're Next is similarly sure-footed and sleek, shrink-wrapped in a genre-aware cleverness and preapproved for cult status. The coat of irony helps when the film takes a major pivot in tone, and Stevens is unnervingly placid as the corn-fed terminator.

Critics Review of THE MAZE RUNNER

Rotten Tomatoes: 63% Approval Rating (62 out of 99 critics like it)

Consensus: With strong acting, a solid premise, and a refreshingly dark approach to its dystopian setting, The Maze Runner stands out from the crowded field of YA sci-fi adventures.

Entertainment Weekly - B-
The first two-thirds of The Maze Runner are a clever feat of fantasy world building. It's thrilling, twisty, and as mysterious as the mammoth Skinner Box environment the film takes place in. But the promising set-up raises so many puzzle-piece questions that when it's all finally explained in the final reel, you can't help feeling a bit gypped. Having not read the book, I was hoping for a more satisfying payoff than the one I got. Then again, maybe the filmmakers are saving the answers for the sequel.

New York Daily News - 3/5
“The Maze Runner” is so clearly an attempt to cash in on the craze for YA adaptations that you may feel your standards drop almost immediately. The movie sits somewhere between “The Hunger Games” and “Divergent” in quality — and rips them both off thematically, with a little “Lord of the Flies” thrown in for extra literary cred. Fortunately, though, director Wes Ball and his outstanding young cast work unusually hard to counter the derivative feel. No, there’s nothing new here. But sometimes it’s enough to be merely entertained, rather than amazed.

James Berardinelli - 2/4
Despite a strong opening and riveting first 45 minutes, The Maze Runner devolves into one of the weakest post-apocalyptic Young Adult movies to reach theaters in recent years. The film's inability to sustain the energy it starts with results in a disappointing experience. The muddled final act (with inconsistent and confusing "revelations") and open-ended conclusion add to the dissatisfaction. Fox has already greenlit the sequel so we'll be given an opportunity to see where the characters go next. Perhaps a strong second installment will redeem the bad taste left by the first one.
