Horrible officiating...nothing close to Curran-Warren bad in terms of the potential stoppage point, but it sure wasn't good.

Not only could the fight have been stopped, the ref doesn't even bring in a doc to check St. Denis' eye, then takes a point from his opponent for a *clearly* unintentional groin strike that didn't even necessitate recovery time...just terrible.

And no, the commentary was not bad...

edit: official was removed from his subsequent assignment on the main card...so anyone who didn't have a problem with his work here should reconsider their absurd perspective.

For arguments sake, let’s say Saint Denis collapses tonight and is found to have a bad brain injury. How in the world would any of us be able to defend the sport when random people rewatch that fight to see what happened. We couldn’t. The red just allowed that to become a hugely dangerous scenario.

Boxers routinely take 200 punches to the head, get dropped, get back up and take more punches to the head. This was nowhere even close to that.

This fight should have been stopped in the second round. The referee should have stopped it, the coaches should have threw the towel in.

I love the show of spirit in there, the need to keep the fight going. But Saint Denis, bro, you took way too much damage in there. Maybe more than someone should take in one fight.
