Dos Anjos Confirms Fight With Colby at UFC 224

I don’t know, I don’t see Colby being big enough to hang with the top 10 at MW.

He’s gonna smash RDA though and dethrone woodley
So.... Congenital heart defect for Woodley, or???

meh

it's a good fight but when they made it for the interim title
it's just became stupid

It seems kind of stupid on the surface, but there's a reason for it. It forces Woodley to fight the winner.

Right now Woodley seems content to sit around and wait for the "money fight" he claims to deserve, even though he's probably the most hated champ in history.

Colby will be humbled and irrelevant soon

I came here to say the same thing as you. I agree, RDA at 170lbs ain't joking at all. And the event takes place in Bresil, it gonna be crazy !

I see it like that too as in if Tyrone messes about they will just use it as leverage and strip him, they don't care about any other fighter except Conor/Ronda/Brock

but also a $ reason
they'll sell the fight easily

Dana likes marketable fighters with fanbases, he ain't give a fuck about giving credit to the real martial artists. Stupid and sad .

I would love to see Colby lose 10 times in a row, I'm not sure that RDA is the guy for the job though.

By that logic, McGregor should have been fighting Tony, not Khabib.

The only thing that is "forced" is the UFC's bullshit marketing gimmicks. For fuck sakes, the UFC might as well just go full retard now... create interim titles in every single division and call them the Intercontinental Champions and be done with it.

Colby is gonna wish he never returned to Brazil RDA is gonna give him a beating for the people...

Conor is a different story. Any Conor fight is going to sell like crazy. So it has to be planned perfectly. They cater to him, not the other way around.

Nobody actually wants to watch Woodley and UFC seems to hate him as champ (not hard to see why).

I'm a proud white person, and I hope RDA blows him out of the building.

Did I miss something? I am French so , like always, I don't understand shit. How does our melanin rate relate to who we will support in an MMA fight?
Obviously we want RDA to win because Colby doesn't deserve a ( interim ) title shot. He is there because he is marketable with the buzz around him for extra-sport reasons.

exactly what I would say.

But Tony being the interim champion didn't force McGregor to fight him, so why is it any different if RDA or Covington is deemed an Interim champ? That's no guarantee Woodley fights the winner.

I'm not drinking Dana's kool-aid either, I can think for myself. This isn't the days of black-box set tops and converters where ordering a PPV requires time and a bit of effort, so I'm not buying into the narrative that "planning" has anything to do with Conor selling successfully on a a PPV (and used as the recent excuse for Conor not staying ready). He could agree to fight a potato on 2 day's notice and still sell a million PPV's. Conor sells himself, and there's more than enough casual morons to make it a big success.

Selling "Conor" on a PPV is the same as selling a brand spanking new Corvette Z06 for $5k. As soon as one fan figures out it's happening, word gets around instantly and everyone else jumps on board in minutes and hours, not days and weeks.

The UFC needs time to plan events around fighters like Woodley, RDA, Covington (as well as the other 95% of the UFC's roster), because they are not draws and marketing them is far, far more difficult.

I already told you, it's a different set of standards. If Woodley refuses to fight, they'll just strip his title and cut him. Hardcore fans would rage but most people wouldn't give a shit.

They can't do that with Conor because he's an asset not a hindrance.

They had no problems stripping him of the FW title, and soon to be LW title. Titles don't mean shit anymore, and having a belt around Conor's waist isn't going to sell "more" PPV's than otherwise normally would. People just want to see him fight, and a piece of tin isn't going to change anything.
