Don't blow your nose!

Well I've seen 100+ fights and I've never seen it I've only heard DC talk about it.
Dont remember the fight but Alvarez did it once, it was instantly shut, seems like its true and most fighters know not to do it i guess.

The late punch probably broke his nose. Pretty natural to try to remove the stuffiness you feel is making it hard to breathe.

Felt like Tony should’ve been DQ’d tbh.

Looks like his nose was already broken, but the late punch right on the nose didn't help at all.

Don't blow your nose while fighting. When I saw Cowboy doing that I knew that already swollen eye was done.
Yeah...the hay was in the barn at that point...I thought it was would born again Cerrone....nothing would have made a difference in this fight. I didnt care for Tony at at all until this fight....he won me over. Tony needs a TS because there are no others.....Cowboy kinda f'd him out of a no doubt about it....But...it's crystal clear...

Actually he managed to do it. Found a way out of the fight, a vet like that doesn't blow his nose without knowing what happens. He thought that the late punch at the end of the round was gonna mean a victory for him by way of DQ.

Dan Mirg did the right thing again by rewarding the correct guy the victory.

No he didn’t lol

He's no quitter but when these guys go up against Tony their subconscious always wants the pain to end.

As someone said, Cowboy being the vet he is, knows better than anyone what he was doing.

Tried to steal a DQ win, cause that was his only chance. Otherwise it was going into the 3rd just for more pointless punishment and even worse injuries.

At this point in his career and with his win streak, I think he was desperate to get the W and the title shot no matter how.

The thing is he was trying to breathe out of his nose and probably started to panic so he blew it. Boom eye swell up like crazy. It was kind of funny seeing cowboy try to open his eye with his fingers

The nose had nothing to do with it, he was getting tagged left n right. He would have lost eventually.

Also, Cowboy is no bitch, I don't think he'd quit.

He was probably foggy as fuck and made a mistake. But sooner or later he was going to lose.

Fuck off. Clearly late shot. Should have been at least deducted
I agree. Tony should have lost a point for those late shots. That should be 100% automatic deducion with no warning, if it's a full second after the bell.

Remember when he tried to pry his swollen eye open so he could continue fighting? Someone should have stopped him and said: "hey, stop doing that."

It happened to Eddie Alvarez not that long ago.

It seems like applying and maintaining pressure on the eye while blowing the blood out could largely prevent this?

I'm not a fighter and when he did it I thought maybe he was doing it in purpose because how and the hell would he not know

I just re-watched this about half dozen times. It was the second punch of a left - right combination. The first was pretty much on the hoooter, and between the hooter and the second punch was about .3 of a second. Yes, perhaps technically late, but not malicious. And just before it happened Joe Rogan is saying 'both his eyes are swelling shut now'.
The fight was over already.
