Donating blood and recovery times

I highly recommend reading information from Nils Osmar regarding boosting your testosterone naturally. I believe he started with testosterone in the 400 range and was able to get it to nearly 1000 at one point. In the article it's 700 something but I believe in one of the facebook longevity groups I've seen 1000-1100 number but I could be misremembering. He started at 69 and now he's 72.

The key things he did was lose bodyfat, start strength training, eating fermented foods, eating healthier and taking quite a few various supplements.

Interesting. If the results he claims are true they are astounding, lightyears ahead of anything I've heard of but then again I haven't looked at the "natty" approach for a while. Most "studies" on the supps that I've seen are run by someone with an interest in a positive result but don't perform that well especially in such a short time. Most of them also are focusing on one supp at a time though. I like his polypharmacy approach, I subscribe to it in all kinds of ways myself which makes me bias in sort of hoping it is legit for what he did and a big part of why it worked.
I'm gonna keep an eye out for more from him and join his FB group, still a bit suspicious but either way I bet there is some though provoking stuff to be found. Thanks for the post.

You were correct it was Hemoglobin number. Went dig up the 3 page of panels, the Hematocrit is right next to it at 44.8 - no flags of concern on it.

They are making it far to easy to be a candidate. You can go to your primary , give him the typical symptoms and they'll put you on a regimen for as little as your Co-pay ($20-50) depending on insurance. If you're rejected by doctor, you just go to one of 10 anti-aging / weight loss clinics and they'll hook you up for monthly fee. It's too easy and its abused.

Thanks for the info and causing to read more into it lol Prefer not to be a long term candidate, heal up & wean off.
Running joke among my friends -
"Tired, unmotivated, struggling in the bedroom? Having trouble focusing? Feel Like You’re Losing Your Edge? Not making as much money as you think you should? Is your wife kind of a bitch?

Look into melatonin for sleep and methylene blue for energy/fatigue.

If you're a typical person even 0.3mg of melatonin will improve your sleep quality.

Methylene Blue is excellent for boosting energy production and you can read up on why. I'd get drops and start at 1 drop in 100ml of water and increase daily until you feel noticeable improvement or side effects. You can try getting to a certain point then going higher or dropping down. You can also take a day or two off per week. I worked up my dose to 20-30mg(40-60 drops of 1%). I sometimes skip a day here or there on the weekends. I tried pills but so far it has been underwhelming almost questioning whether they are legitimate. I will need to open the capsules and see what's inside.

There're also some synergistic effects from taking both MB and melatonin. NAD boosters (NAD shots, NMN, NR, NA, etc) can also add to synergistic effects/benefits. Just keep in mind cheaper B3 variants like NA come with some side effects that more expensive variants do not.

Blood draws is generally good for longevity so if you can do it it's both healthy and you're doing a good deed.

I personally can't handle it. I come close to passing out each blood draw. I avoid even blood draws for as long as I can. It's some genetic issue. I am not afraid of blood or needles but blood draws make my blood pressure drop for whatever reason. Not sure if it's vasovagal response / vasovagal syncope or something else. I've stood in a puddle of blood before and do self injections into even my fingers without an issue.
I already use melatonin regularly. I have the energy to do what I need, but it's a grind. I average 6 hours of sleep at best.

I have the same blood draw issue. I just lay down for the draw and after for about 15 mins.

I heard that supplementing melatonin can affect your natural production.

This is false. I have used up to 6000mg in a day over several doses. I have consistently taken over a gram for several years and bumped it up to three grams this year with good results. I've had what could be described as a mild persistent chronic fatigue and this helped a lot so long as I got good sleep. Methylene Blue just amplifies it a lot more. I have also stopped cold turkey and had no issue falling asleep. Melatonin is out of your system in about five hours.

I remember an old guy in a supplement store once warning me about melatonin saying that it helped him at first but after a couple months it was a total nightmare and he couldn't sleep for days. I don't know if he had a bad batch or wasn't dosing appropriately or what but it left me cautious. The only time I have ever used it since then is if I absolutely have to go to sleep early for jet lag or something but I haven't messed with it in probably over a decade.

Melatonin is an antioxidant used by the body for many reasons and it can be conditionally vital during periods of illness, stress, fatigue, etc...Most of the exogenous melatonin is primarily used by the various cell mitochondria (around 95% IIRC). There's strong evidence it helps treat bacterial and viral infections, destroys cancer, improves many conditions, heals mitochondria, etc...

This is why some people can take 1mg for months and then suddenly discovered it's not sufficient during a period they have flu or cold.
So you guys have had nothing but positive experiences with it? How long you been supplementing melatonin? Do you take breaks from it or use every night? How long before bedtime do you take it? How many hours of sleep do you need to wake up refreshed and not feeling residual drowsiness from it?

I am not a typical user of melatonin. I am probably in the extreme minority in how I use it.

I take mine in the morning or start of day in two doses for an average of 3g. I don't sleep very well on melatonin all else equal so this is my solution. Melatonin tends to make me energized. Caffeine makes me sleepy. The wonders of living with ADHD.

Most people do best taking super tiny amounts like 0.1 to 0.5mg shortly before sleep. There's a subset of people who cannot absorb melatonin so they need far higher equivalent doses .....e.g. 20,40 or even more mg. If you wake up early you like want to try extended release formulation. The requirements may increase as well during times of stress or illness.

I am a shift worker that regularly does short notice overtime for coverage of shifts. I use it because my sleep pattern is so varied and I have way different sleep requirements to my partner.

I have no issues coming off it, but it impacts your sleep quality if used long term.

To fix my sleep I would probably need a regular sleep schedule, my own bed and to have the ability to go to sleep and wake up in my own room away from kids
Instead I bandaid it with melatonin, nap when I can and when I have periods of time off, sleep as much as possible. Once I wake up without melatonin, I am awake with no chance to go back to sleep.

The negatives of melatonin aren't that big for me, but might be if your sleep isn;t as crazy as mine can be.

I have used a couple different but the one I've been using most is 'BulkSupplements'. You can get a kilo of melatonin powder for around 136$ on Amazon in the US. I know it's heavily restricted in many parts of the world(god knows why...)...PureBulk is a good one to try to get shipments to countries where it's restricted.....they have more success getting their shipments through...I have also tried NutriVita before but their quality seemed a bit worse than BulkSupplements.

One researcher that I follow, Doris Loh, recommends taking 4g split up into many doses throughout the day and taken every couple of hours. She stated that if you're healthy, well rested, etc melatonin shouldn't have any effect on you and my experiences bears it out. I have gone as high as 6g and had no issues falling asleep or even stopping cold turkey.

I would give methylene blue a try. It could be nothing short of amazing as long as you get some minimum amount of sleep. Six hours should be ok. Try the brand I use or get any other (that's USP certified and has low metal levels with documentation). I use Heiltropfen 1% on Amazon. Start at 1 drop and slowly raise it. A couple of my coworkers found improvements in energy at 5 and 15-20 drops respectively. They are both older than me. One is in his 50s and the other is in his 60s. I am taking 40-60 drops(20-30mg). Only word of caution is for those taking SSRIs or similar meds. You have to be a bit careful and watch for symptoms, consult with a doctor or just perhaps avoid completely.

This is under valued as an adult. Peaceful sleep alone when you have to have it. Whether it's 4am work, fishing, or event. The kids won't go to bed, she takes the loudest shower possible knocking everything down, then comes turn TV on and will ask you random questions. Then catch an attitude when you just roll over. Found it better to start giving all of them melatonin in supper.
