Donald Cerrone charged with 3rd degree assault

Assault 3rd degree is reckless endangerment or causing an injury due to reckless behavior. Sounds like there was a boat accident and both are being charged for reckless behavior with Donald getting "assault" because the other guy got hurt. This really isn't that big a deal.

And considering the actions the UFC tried to take in order to get Stephens out of jail to fight, I doubt this will have an impact on Cerrones fight.
 
This happened back in 1993 when there was a lake with boats on it. We was riding down the river in a nice big boat, relaxing. I guy speeds past us, in his fancey city boat. We turned the #2 engine on. SO now we have 2 engines so double horses. We gave chase but I think this will be a slap on the wrist Cerrone dad is like a Major or Mayor for the city he lives in. But when we couldn't pass the city boat, we rammed it. People can call it boat rage, but what if we didnt do it? Cerrone comes off like a d-bag to me to. I dont trust him I was in a cage with him. But long story short.
 
Not surprised. Cerrone comes off as a douchebag a lot of the time.

Hopefully the next guy he fights kicks his ass.
 
Kick him out,in all honesty trained ufc fighters should never get in a street fight since they can seriously injure or kill someone.

My theory is that Cerrone got provoked because the other guy thought his "CERRONE" tattoo is stupid and fugly.

Boat rage is hardly "violent".

I'm sure most people have at least road rage once in their life, regardless of gender - in fact, I found females rage worse because they know you can't retaliate (if you do they'll just accuse you of some sexual harassment bullshit).

people who buy and enjoy boats are shitty people 9 times out of 10.

I'm totally serious. It's like people and horses - though that's a little lower, maybe 6-7/10. A horse and a boat and you're certain to be a real piece of shit.
 
In CO they have things on the books like "use of fighting words" which usually falls under things like 3rd degree assault. So really this could literally be Cerrone telling the guy he'll rough him up, and the dude called the cops.

Exactly right.

3rd degree is almost as if it was just an argument, things has been throw around, but no one was hurt. As below:

Often, the third degree assault charge is given in crimes in which there is no obvious physical harm. Such situations may occur as the result of minor altercations or domestic disputes. For example, one spouse may accuse the other of hitting or pushing him. Even in the absence of cuts or bruises, he may say that the hit or push caused him pain. This report of pain may be enough to warrant a third degree assault charge.

it is my understanding that assault is the threat of bodily harm...

The difference between assault and battery lies in the definition of the terms. In legalese, assault is any reasonable threat to a person. The person who is committing the assault does not have to actually touch a person. But a reasonable and immediate threat to the person being assaulted must exist for a claim of assault. Battery, on the other hand, requires contact.

If Cerrone really did intend to beat the dude's ass, he would be facing much worse than a 3rd degree assault charge, particularly being a professional fighter. He probably just bitch-slapped the dude. lol
 
I know people that have met him and from everything I've heard, he seems like a jerk. I won't judge because I have never personally met, but from what I have heard this seems par for the course.
