News Dominick Cruz Officially Retires

Not buying it.

Once he recovers, he'll announce another comeback fight...then get hurt in training again....then retire again...then recover and announce another comeback fight...then get hurt and training again and retire again....and so on and so forth.

Seriously, we'll be dealing with this vicious cycle for the next 5 years.

Retired by Keith Petersen, what can you say for someone under 6 foot 5 like us.
All 6 of his fans must be in tears.

Could have been nearly 10 years ago. I get wanting to go out on a win and a split decision win over a nobody isn't satisfying ... so he should have retired after the Munhoz fight. But like all things Dom, ego dictates things differently.

Can't say I was ever a fan, I found his awful style/weight bullying annoying, but he's been around for a long time and obviously completely dedicated his entire life to this, so I have to respect him. Wish him the best in retirement, hopefully not commentating because he's awful at that too, but something successful. Maybe he can teach teenagers how to stagger around like a dickhead and call it 'footwork'.

After the Munhoz win that was the perfect time for him to retire. But he pushed his luck cherry picking one of the more unskilled guys at the top of the division in Chito and although did have early success in that fight got KO'd and got his nose kicked sideways.

A lot of fighters believe until the bitter end that they still have it in them to be champ.

Definitely. Especially a guy like Cruz.

Goat BW as well as a big what if due to all his injuries throughout the years, could have had an even greater resume. Broke both hands a ton of times, the knee injuries, the plantar fasciitis, the injuries to his arms late in his career, it feels like over half of his potential career was on the bench when he could have further cemented goat status. Merab has a great current run though, but we'll see how his longevity holds up.

Would have liked to have gotten to see him get a retirement fight, but thus is life. Dude was a monster for a while, glad he's found something outside competing to keep him going.

The clear BW GOAT.

One of the most unique fighters in MMA with prolonged success at the top.
