Dominick Cruz Appreciation thread

I was very impressed and inspired by the long arduous journey for him to regain the belt against Dillasnake (ssss) who was probably on EPO when they fought and Cruz won anyway..but NONTHELESS,it takes some serious mental toughness to not quit and regain the title he never lost.

He may be hard to take in the commentary sometimes, but that self belief and ultra competitiveness is directly tied into his fighting style and success.

Listen to this man,and change your bum fuckin life.

Agreed my man.

Lol @ dilasnske (ssssss) !!

TJ looked far worse for wear after the fight. I don't remember who I thought won after the fight but I do remember being happy TJ lost.

Its funny that such a close fight had only 1 round scored the same on all 3 judges cards. And having two 49-46 scores but one for each fighter. In the end I was happy Cruz won because I got to see Garbrandt vs Cruz in Vegas. Even met Faber at the PUB 1842. I did the one thing I swore not to do in a photo with a fighter.....I did the fist thing. Faber did it so I did it too.

I did it when I met fighters too. I kind of hated myself as I walked away shaking my head in disgust.

One of the guys who really popularized shifting stances mid combo in order to get a better angle on an opponent. Tons of people do it now, but I credit him for making it popular in MMA, and that alone has been a huge impact on the evolution of the sport.

I feel like Cruz looked worse after the fight. His leg was all jacked up from TJ leg kicking him. TJ had Cruz figured out late into the fight and once he started using leg kicks, he started finding a lot more success with Cruz.

He had more success because one of those leg kicks messed up his already fragile leg, resulting in an injury. Cruz couldn't move that well.

Amazing, always underrated when people speak about the greats.

And I like his commentary, it's not as much hyperbole and screaming "oh!" and more controlled technical analysis of what is actually going on. I like it.

He's the BW GOAT.

Came off the hopsital bed after 3 years away and obliterated #5 Mizugaki, then gets injured again, then comes out and spanks Dillashaw who everyone was saying was the new GOAT at the time.

Sucks he lost his last two, but he's competitive no matter what and could still be champ. He might be brittle, but mentally, he's probably one of the strongest we've ever seen, if not the very strongest.

And the dude didn't even really get to fight in his prime lol. He spent most of that injured.

Respect..

Guy is insufferable at times but the fighter is absolutely insane..

Also fuck the fans making the argument he won the garbrandt fight..

That said he is top tier fight iq, cardio, toughness, analytical skill, unorthodox approach, wrestling, striking etc.. if he had even one true weapon (ko) he'd be the goat no question..

Is Cruz mexican?
Spanish and Portuguese: from a common and widespread religious Christian personal name from cruz ‘cross’ (Latin crux), or a habitational name from any of numerous places named Cruz or La Cruz, from this word.

I believe his injuries kept him from bring one of the most dominant MMA fighters of all time

Def watch that first video if you have time...its super insightful and I come away from it changed. Armed with newfound knowledge and point of view.
Agree with this

Used to love the Alpha Fail stuff and that he kept beating them.

dillashaw vs cruz... what a fight those are the ones that show what the sport is all about

Cruz’ leg wasn’t the issue. He had plantar facsciitis which is painful as hell. I had a very mild case of it. My chiropractor treated it but the treatment is to put killer pressure on your arch of your foot. Worse than getting kicked in the balls for pain.

I'll always appreciate Cruz putting a whooping on this "Ninja"
