Elections DOGE is formed

Or you can sign transition agreements and start working as government employees already and gain access to non-public info. That's on Trump for not doing that this time around.
Vivek & Elon aren't government employees.
Yeah man, why would you ever want to fund the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Who cares about overseeing nukes and reactors, let alone having civilian control of nuclear weapons. Talk about putting the cart before the horse.
There's 430+ federal departments, and no one is talking about defunding them all.
And the NRC has been around for 49 years with under a billion for a budget, so chances are it won't be on the chopping block.

Though it does beg the question if it does regulate only nukes and reactors why does it need a $18 million/week budget.
If you found $500 billion in waste and reductions (which would be very optimistic) that wouldn't even cover the deficit from an individual year since 2009 -- and that's in nominal, not real dollars. Again, you can't eliminate the federal deficit unless you increase taxes and revenue.
Whats your case DOGE could only find $500 billion in waste?

So you're conceding that you don't actually understand the topic you posted. Good job I guess, it's progress from your normal pigheadedness based off of partisanship.
I'm concede nothing.
I'm just telling you to look up your own answers to your own questions rather than beg me to find them for you.
You seem to not understand how marginal tax rates work... I never said that anyone paid 90% taxes. Many of the US' best economic growth years were at times of high taxation for the wealthy.
And apparently you're completely clueless why those high tax rates went down, and why they had to.
Cool, so go call your congressmember to lobby for a bill auditing every department then. Expecting two random dudes with no background auditing or budgeting in government is a sideshow that won't accomplish anything of substance.
Sounds like they'll do alot better job at that than whomever did it for the last several presidents.
Little higher depending on the tax bracket. Payroll tax doesn't affect a lot of the real big pots of wealth.
'A little higher' isn't a number.
No shit, anyone with a basic understanding of US civics can tell you $2 trillion is impossible. What's that say about your superstars that they are on flat earther levels of delusion?
Did you watch the video?

Vivek & Elon aren't government employees.
That's the point, they are allowed to sign on as government employees or at least be briefed in as government employees. But Trump refused to sign transition agreements this time around to avoid ethics requirements and background checks. Their lack of access to internal government information is a choice, not something that was forced on them.

Then why is the NRC on the chopping block? Remember what I said about your heroes having no idea what they're doing....
Whats your case DOGE could only find $500 billion in waste?
Because that's already a third of discretionary spending. Where do you think you'll find say, 1 trillion, in discretionary cuts?
And apparently you're completely clueless why those high tax rates went down, and why they had to.
The wonders of lobbying and elite and industry capture. This isn't hard to grasp. Odd how al those tax cuts align with huge increases in inequality.
Sounds like they'll do alot better job at that than whomever did it for the last several presidents.
Do you not know who decides what and how and to what extent things get funded? It ain't the president.
'A little higher' isn't a number.
That's a little beyond the abilities of sherdog forecasting. I can note however that eliminating the phase out would fund most of SS for another couple decades.
Did you watch the video?
Yup, it was painful in content, like watching a video meant for 5th graders who have never learned about the US government.

You haven't inspired any confidence here. Two non government employees are going to audit 430+ federal departments?

Now sure if you're following, but DOGE isn't actually a department, its a group of two people... Elon and Vivek...

DOGE an audit of federal departments with the intent to eliminate government waste.

Vivek & Elon aren't government employees.

There's 430+ federal departments

I'm guessing but hoping I'm not the first one to point out that GAO exists and DOGE (brought to you by the party of small government) is redundant? Has any public figure or even Suredogger commented on this?

One of those non governmental employees created SpaceX which is now doing what I thought the world would only see in scifi movies.

And he created the current generation of electric vehicles.

He bought Twitter, fired 80+% of the employees and now it runs far better than it even had before.

So I shouldn't have to come up with an explanation to justify that Musk could audit 430+ departments.

Good luck coming up with a justification for why you believe he can't.

Yup, and the response from rubes who never paid attention in civics was "if those department exists then why is there still waste"

Cuz being an auditor is a very specialized skillset and quite a bit of training and study. Last I checked, neither has ever passed the CPA or CIA exam, nor have any background in auditing or assurance.

You literally just posted reasons why he can't do it. He's supposed to be doing other shit. Not to mention that he seems to spend most of his time tweeting and playing video games.

It's fine. Elon is recruiting the top people who have to be willing to work 80 hours a week for free. If everyone employed by the federal government would just work for free, all of our problems would be solved!

I'm sure GAO is on the chopping block.

'He's supposed to be doing other shit.'

Ok bro.

Good luck telling Elon "You can't do that!"

An auditor is a 'very specialized skillset.'
They're so specialized all of them have failed in auditing the federal budget & departments.

The difference is.... could you name an auditor by name in Washington DC thats respected?
And could go to an elected President or numerous congressmen and could make an effective argument that departments should be shut down?

I'm going to assume the answer is 'no.' Because there's no interest in Washington DC because the budget has multipled by 7 times in 40 years, the national debt is $30 trillion more than it was 22 yeard ago.... and the beneficiaries of that level of wasteful bureaucracy live, 'work' (or don't), and get paid by the wasteful bureaucracy.

Hopefully Elon & Vivek put the auditors heads on the chopping block first because they're the least useful profession in DC.

I don't think you understand what auditors do. They can only work with the books provided. An auditor can't make a client pass an audit if they don't want to, nor can they make a client follow GAAP or other standards if the client doesn't want to. In that instance, the appropriate response is either quit as the auditor or fail the organization. The latter is what happened with the DoD.

I love how you're al about shooting the messenger rather than the people who won't listen. Or the many GOP deficit hawks who only like complaining and don't want to actually balance the budget.

Guess which president accounted for about $8 trillion while inheriting a strong economy...Trump. How do you square his horrible fiscal management with the idea that he'll be the one to balance the deficit.

They're job is to audit what they're provided. They literally do that lol. Tell me you've never met an accountment or CPA. I don't even think you know what an audit is.

They can only work with the books provided, so are they asking for more books to audit?
Or are they spending most of their days just sitting in their offices?

Why not shoot both?
And the 'GOP deficit hawks' are completely worthless. Fuck 'em.

Have I praised Trump for his fiscal responsibility in his first term?

Hell of a gig they have.
They just audit what they're told to audit, which apparently isn't much, no one pays attention to their recommendations, all while getting a pretty decent paycheck to live in or near Washington DC and receive federal benefits.

Love to see them audit this -

At first I thought this was a joke but it's not. Musk at the helm? Oh boy, what a circus. 🤣
Nothing will ever top that old, babbling, lost, and confused man we once called our POTUS.
The world is laughing at you American clowns thinking this is a good idea.
Yeah, because the world really cares about some obscure government agencies you’ve never even heard of being cut.

The world is laughing at us for trying to reduce government waste? What country are you from where excessive government spending is held so dear?
