does Stipe need to quit firefighting ?

I like how people on the internet tell someone else what he needs to do.

How about you need to mind your own business?
No....we WONT MIND OUR OWN BUSINESS.

stipe needs to fu**in quit fire fighting.

It's kind of funny. He's fighting for the Zuffa HW championship. And people are questioning what got him here.

It's his life. He needs to answer to nobody. If he wants to do both, let him. It hasnt interfered with his mma, apparently. I suppose he could be out partying, and talking shit 24/7, or running into innocent people with his car.

He chooses to risk his life daily to do a courageous job that is very valuable to the safety of society. People in here love to throw words like warrior or hero around. There's your fuckin hero right there folks.

I think he deserves respect, and I wish more fighters had those kinds of qualities.
Forest griffin was a police man...how come you didnt say he needed respect?

I'm no firefighting expert, but don't those guys mostly just spend a lot of time waiting for something to happen? I would imagine tons of training can be done while at work. Maybe not specifically fight training, but probably strength and conditioning.
Lol look at this guy acting like fire fighters are lazy waiting around for "something to happen"

Have some respect.

i don't think it is disrespectful.
here in NYC at least that is factual.
granted, when that call comes in it is intense, stressful and potentially dangerous.
but the calls are not constant.
a good friend of mine started his career and for months only had the garbage can in the park on fire or the car reported stolen and set on fire for insurance money (aka no lives at risk).
the one you see in the movies is not that frequent. when it happens it is on the local news.
and yes if he can work 1 shirt 40 straight hours he can probably sleep 2 nights and the days while waiting for a call do cardio and lift.

yes, they are mostly just sitting at the station playing either poker, or domino's- depending on what kind of neighborhood you're working in.

fuckin hose draggers ain't got shit on us paramedics

woop

firefighter > cage fighter. Unless you are the .001% of mma fighters who becomes household names [Ronda, Conor], a career in firefighting is the smarter choice. You get to retire with a pension that is the envy of most union laborers. Easy to make 6 figure salary while receiving 90% of that in retirement. While in UFC, you get cut as soon as you decline [anywhere from 32-38 years old], and have to survive the rest of your life with CTE and damaged joints.

Lol. Firemen are overpaid. I mean, they ought to be paid well, but their pensions are well beyond what most local and state governments can afford.

its not so much that they're overpaid but that everyone else is underpaid. Firefighters and Policemen are one of the few careers that kept their pension plans while corporate America gutted retirements for the working class. Our consolation gift is the privilige of contributing to our 401k's.

Public sector pensions are slowly bankrupting more than half of US states. I think policemen and firefighters should be paid well, but their pension plans aren't sound policy.

Only he knows what he must do. He seems to be doing find considering he finished a surging Arlovski in a minute and is now fighting for the title.

I understand what you are saying though TS. If he trained full time he might be even better.

He's training for a title shot... how wise is it to spend time, whole days, working as a firefighter?

  1. He could get injured
  2. He could be training those times.

I think being a firefighter is more important than fighting for a "title".

He shouldn't change up his routine... that's what got him there.

retirement ages need to be raised to reflect the longer lifespans we have. A person retired at 60 and collecting checks for 30 more years is bad policy for these times. But I believe everyone needs the safety net of pensions, otherwise we will need roving death squads to remove bankrupt elderlies from burdening society.

They play cards and BBQ all day. Lol.

They ALWAYS used to be at the starbucks near my work. ALL the time. They just sit there checking out girls..

In their defense though, when shit hits the fan they perform. But they rig the overtime system to get paid way more than their usual pay.

Whatever, better than giving it to a paper pusher at any of the government offices.

Resign his firefighter job and be at Dana's mercy? That'd be very stupid. Firefighters (at least in CA) make very good money, retire young, and have great pensions and benefits.
