He's training for a title shot... how wise is it to spend time, whole days, working as a firefighter?

  1. He could get injured
  2. He could be training those times.

Maybe the clown should pay better. My guess he only makes 70k disclosed for this fight.

3. He could save a kitten in a fire and be a hero forever.

win/win situation to me

At some point, he may have to decide between one or the other.

Imagine how good he could be if he was concentrated 100% on fighting. Dude is a beast.

Another thing, don't firefighters work 24 hour shifts? That has to fuck with your sleep schedule and therefore hurt your ability to recover.

Nah Stipe can do it all, he's gonna be heavyweight champion soon

Needs to cover his expenses for training/fighting and others stuff in life.
Can't do that with the peanuts the UFC pay him.

I like how people on the internet tell someone else what he needs to do.

How about you need to mind your own business?

I think he can probably do some limited training while on shift? A good portion of time is spent sitting at the firehouse waiting for a call to come in.

Also, they don’t have to be awake for 24 hours. But still, not an easy way to go through a fight camp.

Fedor was a firefighter at some point

Train firefighting > train ufc

I wonder if Stipe's life has been just one endless locker room

no wonder he's such a neanderthal

WTF he still does that, dam Stipe's a busy dude

He will beat Werdum with one hand and put a fire out with the other.

I'm no firefighting expert, but don't those guys mostly just spend a lot of time waiting for something to happen? I would imagine tons of training can be done while at work. Maybe not specifically fight training, but probably strength and conditioning.

Somehow he seems at peace with his part-time job. Firefighting probably adds a sort of balance to his life. But, If he wants to be champ, I think it would be a good idea to call it a day for now. He can always go back to it once his MMA career is done.

Yea me and not the clowns saying what someone else needs to do.

I know a few firefighters and they spend more time in the gym than anything else. Alot of firefighters these days are built like tanks.

They still sleep. And if they get a call in the middle of the night they come back and go to sleep and wake up at a specific time. Unless it's a huge fire that they spend all night working on.

It's kind of funny. He's fighting for the Zuffa HW championship. And people are questioning what got him here.

It's his life. He needs to answer to nobody. If he wants to do both, let him. It hasnt interfered with his mma, apparently. I suppose he could be out partying, and talking shit 24/7, or running into innocent people with his car.

He chooses to risk his life daily to do a courageous job that is very valuable to the safety of society. People in here love to throw words like warrior or hero around. There's your fuckin hero right there folks.

I think he deserves respect, and I wish more fighters had those kinds of qualities.
