Seems like every time a champ loses they run it back these days
They were touting Sterling as the “ best bw of all time “ and “ dominant champion “
He was talking about moving up- why would volk take that fight now?
He got tko’d- does that factor in?
So does he go to the back of the line or get that rematch?

O'Malley gets the keys to Dana's castle and that mean favorable matchups. O'Malley fights Chito next because he wants to not because it makes sense. Aljo will move up and Merab and Sandy will never get a ts with Sean as champ.

He got butchered. No immediate rematch in cases pike this? Lol

Doesn't make it right.

True but it just goes to show how there isn't really a definitive pattern as to when these things happen based on how the fights go.

In reality, I'm sure it also has to do with what other match-ups there are, what kind of plans each fighter has (Sterling was talking of moving up), etc.

I don't think so. UFC sorta doesn't like him. He is also not too popular. He is a tristate guy that gets booed while fighting in that area. I don't know why but he can't catch fire.

Do we want that?

Merab is more deserving and chito beat him up..

If i'm a matchmaker i do merab..

Only time an instant rematch makes sense is if there's a controversial decision (ex. Shogun vs Machida)

They need to stop this non sense where you have to beat the champ twice. Even the Edward's/Usman one was dumb to me. Usman should've won 1 fight and then challenged for the title. These rematches keeps the division in limbo for a full year.

In this case he should, but it's doubtful since he has so few fans.
Plus - he hasn't been kind in his interviews about Dana, he's history now.

All true.

Best case scenario IMO is:
-Taking some time off
-Merab fighting for the belt
-Look for rematch in a year or so (if Merab wins)
-Move up (if Merab is champ)
