Rizin Does Rizin pay their fighters well?

It's more of a lifestyle where, if the fighter wins and makes a name for himself, he can make enough money to live that lifestyle. And, to be honest it is not a bad lifestyle for men that have never, nor ever want to work a "real job" and instead just want to do whatever the fuck they want, when they want, sleep when they want, eat when they want, party when they want, and train when they want and as long as they win a few fights a year, this lifestyle can be sustained. In some ways, that lifestyle is better than being a "real" professional athlete who, although making guaranteed millions of dollars a year, still has to show up to practice every day for many months of the year and play many games/matches. MMA fighters fight a few times a year and do whatever the fuck they want otherwise.

To be honest if I had less that I had as a young man, it probably would have been a way to make money I would have pursued and lived that lifestyle.

AI overview says this for RIZIN:

RIZIN fighter pay varies significantly based on experience, popularity, and negotiation, but can range from a few thousand dollars to upwards of $300,000 per fight. Top-tier fighters and those with significant international recognition can earn considerably more, with some earning over $300,000 per fight. Lower-tier fighters might earn between $10,000 and $30,000.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Low-end fighters:
May earn between $10,000 and $30,000 per fight, which can be challenging to live on, requiring some to juggle training with other jobs.
  • Mid-tier fighters:
Those with some recognition and success can earn more, potentially reaching $50,000 or more per fight, according to a Reddit thread.

  • Top-tier fighters:
RIZIN's top fighters, especially those with international appeal, can command significantly higher purses, potentially reaching six figures per fight.
  • Influence of popularity:
A fighter's ability to draw viewers through pay-per-view buys and ticket sales can greatly impact their earning potential, according to MMA Fighting.
  • Financial stability:
Some fighters, like Roberto Satoshi, have stated they earn more in RIZIN than they would in other organizations like the UFC, indicating a healthy financial environment for certain fighters in Japan.

Supposedly even the low tier fighters in RIZIN make 10k - 30k for fight. Knowing the cost of living in Japan outside of the big cities anyways: that would be enough money to live on relatively comfortably.

I don't understand why Satoshi is saying that.

First of all, he doesn't have any outside sponsors. All his clothes represent is his gyms, never any outside firm. I assume his gym pays him regardless, he's one of the owners.

Secondly, let's say he'd have joined UFC in 2019 instead of Rizin.
You know which other lightweight started his UFC career in 2019? Grant Dawson. He started from peanuts, because he came from Contender Series, and now is getting $106 to show.
Either Satoshi doesn't believe he could've got to this level in the UFC, or Rizin pays him....more than $100K? I honestly doubt that.

I can see Rizin paying him 100K+ per fight--he's one of their champions and one of their top stars. I also don't believe he would be a contender in the UFC either, he'd be a prelim/low main card fighter and would probably be constantly fighting against getting cut. For someone like him, it makes sense to be in Rizin.

Satoshi, as in their LW champion? Of course he is making more than 100k. You're also overlooking it's easier for him to fight more frequently in Rizin than in the UFC too.

Satoshi also said that in 2021, so he was definitely making more money than Grant Dawson at that time. I'm not sure where you saw that Dawson is making 100k to show, but considering he has only had 1 loss in 13 fights, that kinda speaks to how hard it is to make money in the UFC.

He's like 11-1-1 in the UFC, and only barely cracking 100k. That's kind of crazy.

OK, so first of all here are the salaries from UFC 311 - one of the last states in US which still exposes fighters' basic salaries:

Secondly - well , indeed maybe there is an option from Rizin to pay such money, even though, for example, PFL needed to cut some salaries in the tourneys, and on the other side Rizin was able to sign Bader, whose worth is probably close to 200K already.....
Still , feels weird that Rizin is raizin money

I just noticed they signed Patricky.
My assumption, based on an evolution of salaries of fighters with the same organizational path - such as Larkin, for example - that he is between 100K and 150K, closer to 100.

Yes, Rizin DOES have money now.

RIZIN completes 10 years this year, which is the same time as PRIDE. They learned their lessons, even though PRIDE is still more memorable due to their roster and fancy events.
