Has he earned it on merit? No. He earned it at WW, but the UFC screwed the pooch.

But he does deserve it because Dana said the winner is next. So he’s right in talking about it. But he should maybe have held off a bit. Monday morning seemed a bit early.

It is what it is. But those are facts. And sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I think he gets it but it might depend where it is. His possible visa issue may figure heavy into this.
 
I think in the very least he should be fighting in a real #1 contender bout. Cannonier makes a lot of sense, but even then one could argue a top 5 and then #1 contender bout makes even more sense. I dont mind him being in position to fight a top 5 guy but talks of a title fight are ridiculous.
 
I sure wish we had a solid ttd powerful striker around 185 like prime Romero or hendo to chin his ass and send him on his way
 
Fuck no, he doesn't even have a top 20 win at MW. I don't care if they fast track him to a top 5 fight but getting a title shot without any top 20 wins is ridiculous.

Why would they do an interim title at MW? The belt was just won and the new champion isn't injured or otherwise unavailable.

I should get a title shot. I have the same number of top 10 ranked wins as Khamzat. I want to fight Francis for my guaranteed $2 Million and if I win I will defend multiple times. Does that make sense? Neither does Khamzat getting a title shot at MW for beating Gerald Meerschart.

Izzy isn't the champion anymore and his fight with Strickland proves the mantra, styles make fights. You shouldn't be holding a loss to Izzy against Cannonier when discussing if Cannonier should get the title shot vs DDP, especially since Izzy and DDP fight nothing alike other than they change stances.
 
To be honest most of the top 5 have lost their last fight, so it's not like there is a clear contender. But beating Usman at MW in a close fight shouldn't get you a title shot.
 
Nah. He looked solid enough with his MW debut, but he really needs a legit contender matchup. If he can smush a top 10 a title shot would make sense.
 
In a perfect world they'd run back DDP vs Strickland, and have Izzy/Khamzat for the number 1 contender

I also wouldn't hate DDP vs Chimmy and Izzy/Strickland II
 
No he doesnt deserve it. I am a huge Khamzat fan,and I dont know what the real reason is why the guy barely fights and barks at anyone and everyone on Twitter,but it doesnt ever materialize into anything. It sucks. He really needs the experience and mat time to become better,and these fights just arent happening.

Does the guy that doesn't have top level MW fights and retires every couple of years, deserve a title fight? No.
 
If he's good enough, he's deserves the belt. If he isn't, then whoever beats him deserves to take his shine.

I just wanna know at this point - how good he really is, so just let him fight for the belt.
